Browning Compact 9 Cubic Feet Safe

Postby skeeter856 on Fri Dec 23, 2011 9:05 pm

In like new condition. No scratches or dings. I purchased it a few years ago and no longer have a need for it. It is very well built and quite roomy for its smaller size. Dimensions are 30"x24"x20" and it weighs 275 lbs. Here is a link to Dick where I purchased it and to Brownings site;

They currently sell for around $900 after tax. I am asking $589. Email me with any questions or for pictures.

Yes, interested. But why $589 ?
Not $600, or $575. Why 5 8 9 ?
But YES, interested but out-of-town right now.

Ok, ok, my favorite numbers are 5, 8 and 9! If it makes it easier we can make it an even $600! Let me know if you need any other info. Thanks.

Perhaps the same reason Dicks doesnt sell them for $850 but $849.99 :P

Skeeter nice of you to offer to sell it for $600 instead of your asking price, Whatever it takes to keep the customer happy.

Remember, customer is King, right? Anyway, I am a tad bit negotiable on the $600. A tad bit.... :)

Nope. This is a practice that goes back to before the days of sales tax. Pricing something at $xx.99 forced the cashier to open the till and make change, creating a record of the sale in the register, rather than allowing the cashier to just pocket the money if handed exact change. I'm pretty sure this was a Sears and Roebuck innovation. Now a days it doesn't matter with the whole sales tax thing, but at the time it was responsible for reducing employee theft at the register by quite a large margin.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program. :ugeek:

We had a discussion at work that people are more inclined to buy an item that ends in .99. I argued it doesn't really apply in our situation, ours end(ed) in .98. People are going to need glasses and I don't really think the other .01 is really going to make a differnece. I do have a link of the reasoning behind it.
