Prefer the shell style but will consider a decent universal setup.

Re: WTB : 9MM LUGER / 7.62 x 39 laser bore sighters

I don't have one to sell, but I'll thrown a possible recommendation out. I picked up one of those cheap universal ones that you insert into the muzzle end of the barrel. It has different sized plastic ends that screw into the one end of the laser and adjust for size to fit snuggly into any sized barrel. I've used mine for various .22s, a .223, a 9mm, and a couple 7.62s, in order to pre-sight in red dots, scopes and lasers prior to a range trip. Works great. The thing is fragile in that it has fine threaded screws that hold the plastic ends on the laser sight itself, but I haven't had any trouble. Just need to treat it with care when replacing the plastic end and using it. I think I paid around $35.00, but I've seen them up to $45 at other places in town. I've more than gotten my money out of it.

Are you sighting in scoped rifles?

Heres a trick thats free and easy.
pull out the bolt or disassemble it so that you can see straight through the bore, if thats possible(otherwise this trick doesn't work)
Put the gun on a rest, or bags, such that you don't have to touch it. Looking through the bore, locate your target, center it on the bore. Then adjust your scope without bumping the gun. Your probably gonna bump the gun so you may have to do it a few times until its on.

I once did this with .308 at 1000 meters, worked pretty slick! It was a rail gun though so there was no bumping it. oh, and we didn't use a scope.

I've read the posts about the limited worth of the cheap universal laser sighters as well. I attribute most of those to folks not taking their time, not using kid-gloves, etc. I completely agree that the little plastic attachments and the fine threaded screws are fragile. No getting around that. But, I've used mine upwards of 15 times now and haven't had any problem whatsoever. I just couldn't justify spending a bunch of money on the cartridge type ones that would be limited to caliber, so I took a chance on this and have found it to be worth it.

I have this one, which retails on other sites for around $45.00. I figured going with the actual LaserLyte brand may eliminate some of the issues the knock-offs have. I think they are pretty much all the same though. I got mine when Sportsman's Warehouse was having its going out of business sale so my end price was less.

And for the love of God, remember to take it out of the barrel before sending a pill down range!

We wouldn't want you to post any pics like this......... (this is the result of trying to fire a bullet past a laser bore sighter.)

I got the 9mm last week - it worked really well. The only problem was to get it out - the tolerances are too tight

I used my laserlyte one again tonight. Trying to get a laser mounted on a HighPoint carbine, but the laser and mount have some issues so I'm struggling with her now. Regardless, the laserlyte worked great again. A tip that I think is worth knowing on these is that the tiny screws that come with the plastic inserts/ends should each be screwed into their plastic ends almost all the way so that only about 1/16 to 1/8 inch and the head of the screw are left protruding on the outside of the plastic end. This will make more sense when you get the model. The entire plastic end with its screw already attached may then be screwed into the end of the lyte and adjusted accordingly to fit the bore. In other words, there's no need to remove the screws from the plastic ends when removing the plastic ends from the lyte. I suspect folks don't sink the screws deep enough into the plastic ends and then try to overtighten them onto the lyte which leads to broken plastic and stripped threads. Just my additional 2 cents. Again, it'll make more sense once you get the unit.
