Looking for a Large Range Bag

Since I am a packrat, and like to carry everything I could possibly ever need in any event, I have outgrown all my bags. I need a reasonably large range bag which opens up at the top, with multiple compartments. Anyone got one...or could recommend one? Thanks!

I have one of those along with about 50% of other shooters it would seem. It's a great bag and it is huge. Here is a picture that I stole from somewhere. I think that's a XD45 Tactical in the picture.

The center bag pulls out and is the one on the left of the picture. It comes with two padded gun wallets or whatever they are called and a brass bag with mesh at the bottom so you can shake the sand out a bit. Inside the pullout bag there are loops for 6 magazines. On each inside wall of the main bag there is a divider. On the outside of the bag there is one huge pocket down one side, with two large pockets opposite of it (the ones facing the camera). There is also a pocket on each end and a can holder (fits those round wet wipes containers also) on one end.

Mike, I have the 5.11 shooters bag, which seems to be the same size as the midway bag, I like it alot, the ONLY problem, is if you add 5 or 6 hand guns, a couple hundred rounds of each ammo, and the rest of the stuff, the thing starts to weigh close to 50 pounds. which is a lot to carry on one shoulder, I have gone to some smaller bags which I keep a couple of guns in each with ammo and have started to keep the .38;s in one bag. the .22's in another etc, which has made moving things a lot easier.


If you want to look at my bag let me know, we're only a mile or so apart.

Weight can definitely be an issue; mine is ridiculously heavy with all the crap I have it. Also, the 5.11 "Range Ready Bag" is identical to the Midway one other than the logo.

I agree, but cmj685 asked about a big range bag and that Midway bag is big. The CED bag is smaller, carries more than I need and still ends up heavier than I prefer.

I know mike asked about big, I was only bringing up the down side to big... its like getting a suburban, I love what they can haul, but there is a price to pay for hauling everything in one thing.

Hey guys, thanks for reminding me of the down-side of "big". Yes, I forgot about weight. Even my small bag, bulging at every corner, almost weighs more than I enjoy carrying sometimes.
Wondering about the Midway bags--can they be locked in any way? And Pete, when you come by for the brass, if you remember, bring the bag so I can see it. Thanks!

I have the 5.11 bag myself. I find it the perfect size for IDPA or three gun myself. Enough room to hold two guns and their associated ammo/holsters/magazines/pouches, and eyes/ears/timer. I usually carry a spare eyes and ears too.

The ammo is really the only thing that weighs a bag down. At the end of a shoot, my bag is always much lighter

Anyway, I recommend that size. I started with an I-Shot bag, and while it's a nice bag, you're not getting more than 1 gun and it's associated gear into it easily.

Yep and I plan on getting older and staying in the shooting game, Without having Back Surgery!!!

I just had surgery to put my right shoulder put back together and one of the projects I want to complete while recovering is a shooting cart to carry the bag, 2 or 3 long guns, seat and umbrella holder so I can enjoy days at matches in comfort and style. I saw pictures of some at a coyboy shoot and they looked like the ticket to not be so hard on my body with all the gear I want (need) to have with. Like dad said, the trick is to work smarter, not harder... Tom
