TNT Custom Gunleather

Anyone done any business with them? Just wondering how long they've been around.

I noticed they were cloning two of our holsters - our Laredo Defender and Pocket Defender 2n1.

Don't know anything about TNT but both models you indicate are made by dozens of holster makers ranging from huge guys like safariland to semi hobbists. Saying they cloned anybody might not be fair.

Sure, I understand the issue of similar styles, but the two he makes are more than similar to ours IMO. Here's a link to the page on our website: http://www.kdholsters.com/iwb-owb-defend.php. Take a look at our Laredo Defender and then take a look at his OWB holster. The only thing he didn't do, that we do on ours, is to groove a line around the edge of the straps.

I'm trying to find out the name of the owner to see if it's a prior customer. We've had that happen before - a customer buys one of our holsters and then clones it and calls it their own...

Do you have a patent on the holster in question? Is he using your name for advertisement or as a product comparison?

If not, what's the big deal, and why do you care?

Don't taunt the original poster. He asked a basic question. Answer it or not, stop looking for a fight.

I'm not looking for a fight. It's a basic question.

If the OP really wanted to know who the owner was, you could find out easily enough with a little internet sleuth work.

didn't he both ask a specific question and then make a bold accusation, all in one post?

Yes, but please don't bring facts into an argument.

I've heard heard of this company - but here's some basic information:

Website:
http://www.tntcustomleather.com/

Contact Info:
http://www.tntcustomleather.com/contact.html

Domain information:
http://whois.domaintools.com/tntcustomleather.com

If you really feel like your intellectual property is being infringed upon, give them a call and discuss.

Honestly though, most holsters look pretty similar to me - quality, fit, finish all tend to be the differentiation. Example, I use a lot of Galco gunleather for routine stuff, but there's a clear difference in quality when I set a Galco holster next to a Milt Sparks VM2...

The operative word is argument. It takes two to argue.

If nobody on this forum has dealt with TNT, the original post would fade away into obscurity. Yet many forum members prefer to drag this place down by starting petty arguments.

The OP is far from bold. In fact, it's forgettable (if you let it).

I hear you Joe, but I also see it from the angle of a company from Florida trying damage the reputation of a local, Minnesota based business. Maybe it's well deserved, maybe not. Either way, like I said, if the OP wanted to know who owns the business there are several simple ways to find that out via the internet, as bstrawse pointed out, without badmouthing the other company. So yes, the OP did ask a basic question, but the manner in which it was asked is suspect, in my mind at least. Some may also see it as a way of advertising for his business as he gave a link to his own site, but not the accused. It is what it is.

Have a great day Joe!

jaysong is a member here and appears to own the url. Hopefully he will see this and respond to the OP. I'd rather not pick at the scab but do see the value to bringing it into the light of day.

I would hug you if were here Joe... Purely in the interest of board harmony, of course.

I am going to add that to my class ciriculum for the Minnesota SBP training...
