Didn't the Dillon Blue Press or one of the gun rags recently have an article about laser sights and how they could be useful? I'm not entirely sold on them myself...but it brought up some good points. If I see it I'll post what issue it was in... suppose I could re-post it too, but that could cause copyright problems

My main reason is they are "universally" recognized in the 'hood as the mark of death. It comes from seeing so many movies, if the red dot hits you, you're dead.

I am almost done managing the apartments I used to take care of, and several times after I had to draw and put the dot on a would be robber, I would hear people saying things " Don't be effing with him, he has a Eff LAZA on his pistol." and I never have had any troubles there since.

They are not designed for precision bullet placement, but they can help with that, they are however, a great psychological tool and a very good tool to help you shoot if circumstances makes getting a good aim difficult

Don't get to relying on those sights either,
IF you are in a situation where you really need to use your weapon, you will not find the sights.........study AAR's....... :?

I have night sights on mines already. I just thought a laser would be an extra advantage when a situation arrives.

going back to my post, I just consider it another tool in the box. I know when I actually shoot, I don't pay that much attention to it, but the scare factor certainly worked once, and that saved me having to have a DGU that involved shooting.

I have not said that it can not be a deterrent in the right situation....mostly in the proactive rather than reactive mode... ;)

I cant stand strap ons on my guns, too much **** to fail when you need it not to. Saying that however, i have found that my SO benefitted from a laser when first shooting a handgun, due to the expectation of recoil she had a tendency to milk the trigger something fierce, I stuck a crimson trace laser on the gun and had her continually focus on "that red dot out there and try and hold it steady" whilst shooting. Long story short, she spent so much time focusing on keeping that spot still that she forgot ablout the recoil and very quickly learned to not be afraid. Now she shoots better than I and dont need no steenking lasers.

I agree Monschman. Having that laser dot bouncing and dodging down range on a target is a great visual on what small disturbances to your shooting platform can result when magnified by distance. Side benefit - I guess.

Thunderjohn is selling Viridian lasers now. I picked up a couple, One for my Glock 21 and a new S&W SD40. Green beam. Then LCR w/ CT and S&W 642 w/ct. I like em but I train using it as a secondary aim tool. :D
