Maybe it improves with age like a fine wine.

If it's just copper nothing works better than straight ammonia. 20'% strength is perfect

For the dollar you can't beat Ed's Red, and it seems to work about as well as other stuff I've tried. I'm still using the last of a gallon which I think I mixed up in 2007. The traditional recipe calls for acetone which would make me nervous about using it on plastic of any kind (though it never obviously bothered the plastic or rubber grips on my guns). You can leave the acetone out and it's just not as fast acting.

Dean said he uses citrus based cleaner; I've thought of trying that to get away from the petroleum based chemicals.

Thats right you were the one with the recipe I was gonna duplicate to try, I was tryin to jog my memory who was talking to me about it at a steelshoot

RB-17 for a non-petro, wife won't shoot you, because of the smell gun cleaner.

Ummmmm....... Then keep your gun cleaning stuff away from them.

Most of the time.... Organic = doesn't work worth a ****. Therre are a few exceptions, but not many. It may make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and make a tree smile while your hugging it...... But your guns will still be dirty.

Organic is no vouchsafe for nonpoisonous. Some of the most potent toxins yet known are all natural, non gen-mod, cruelty free etc.

Many many compounds originating at a petroleum refinery are gentler, safer, and more reliable.

Don't just think you are in the free and clear just because something is "natural", mother nature is a cruel shrew.

I use Gunzilla.

It smells awesome, (meaning you can barely smell it) and works great. Plus it's nice and friendly.

I have bottles of #9, breakfree, etc, and this is the best i've used. Plus the more you use it the easier it is to clean your gun since it coats like a lubricant...

You could just not clean your guns. This strategy has worked well for me. Also prevent the reversed installation of savage bolt-heads...ask me how I know...

Seriously, i use simple green (flamesuit on) for 99.9% of cleaning.
I use royal purple 5w40 for lubrication. My guns do not need to run super wet so it works fine, just a little smear works just dandy and hasnt hurt any of my guns, that and the stuff is quite inexpensive compare to some gun oils and cleaning chemicals
I do keep a bottle of tetra bore cleaner for every now and again when i get some copper buildup which isnt too often. I also keep a can of brake cleaner for quick on the spot carbon removal. As someone already stated sili-kroil works great but can be hard to find, that and I have to admit that the stuff smells pretty strong but there anint no denying that it works great

I've heard of people using Mobile 1 for lube with great results. There was even a rumor that Militec (the stuff I use) is just repackaged Mobile 1. A quart would last a long time.

I bought a used Encore barrel awhile back,,,it had something,,,still not sure what it was, about the last 1/4" of the muzzle. I tried everything I had here,,,Butches, Hoppe's #9 and Benchrest, Shooters Choice, and Breakfree CLP, none cut it. I talked with another net bud, and he said to try WipeOut. I did and an hr of letting it set, it was gone,,still not sure what it was. Wipeout is all I use now,,,no brushing or back and forth swabbing. Squirt the foam in the barrel and let it set 10 min. then 2 patches, squirt in again and let set overnite,,,3 patches and it's clean. Finish off with a light patch of CLP and it's good to go.

I've heard of wipeout working really well for bullseye shooters, where can I get that stuff?
