Suggestions on a chest holster

Postby TIP on Wed Nov 16, 2011 7:42 pm

I am looking for a chest holster, something that I can access a handgun from in a sitting or low sitting position. I plan to get out and do a bit more fox and coyote calling this winter and would like to carry a handgun across my chest for quick access if needed. Quick access for what or why, don't know, but calling at night and what may come in where a rifle might be a bit awkward to use at close range. Would like something in leather, but a synthetic set up would work just fine. What is most important to me is that it rides across my chest and not under my arm or on my hip, to hard to get to in those modes of carry. I have done some Googling, but don't seem to find what I need. Any suggestions? Links to manufactures or vendors would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I think Bianchi might make a tanker holster. Also try Maxpadition(sp).

All the tank holsters that I see are basically an under the arm shoulder holster, or am I looking at it wrong? Thanks for the suggestion though. :)

Depending on the gun you carry, a MOLLE-compatible holster on a small chest rig (like the on from 5.11 or SOTech) should do the job. I've seen this setup done with the Serpa, Safariland 6000 series, Blade-Tech and CompTac.

The Bianchi M13 Tanker might work for you too. I've used this with the older UM84 holster and liked it.

I am also interested in a chest style holster, but the chesty puller is a harness only, you have to also purchase one of their holsters.

I use an Elite Survival "Avenger" gun bag as a chest pack, works good for me. It has an internal holster and mag holders.

It rides at the perfect angle on my chest, and I can easily swing it around to my back if I need to get it out of the way.
I removed the stupid "tactical" velcro patch and replaced it with a Nikon logo patch.

I am not a hunter so not sure for the hunting you do if you're required to wear orange but why not one of these:

I have one and I love it. I never really wear it, but I bought it so Ican look at myself in the mirror with lol j/k. I got it for when i was fishing down in Florida and well being surrounded by gators and hog, and worse swamp people lol I felt better with a handgun and the vest worked well with fishing, and protection.

Would a leg holster work? That might be another option

A Maple Plain MN company.

http://www.pistolpackaging.com/category_s/48.htm

I have holsters from them for my Ruger Superblackhawk 10.5" and my T/C Contender 14" 444Marlin.
(Bought back in 1983.)

They offer option for carry not on their on-line store - contact them for details.

So I am not seeing a good alternative here. The "Chesty Puller" seems to be the closest thing to what the OP was looing for. I also have a need for a similar rig,

Is the Chesty the only one that is a harness + holster without a lot of other "stuff" like a bag etc?
