Versacarry holster

Postby PHATSPEED7x on Wed Oct 10, 2012 9:48 am

I've been using one for about a month with my XD9 sub compact, and just ordered one for my XD45 compact. Great "zero bulk" holster.

Anyone else use a versacarry holster?

It's my main holster.

I just saw a video from Armordillo<?> who released a Versacarry-eque holster called the X-Fer, but it is based around hooking into the flashlight rather than the barrel. it's great as long as you have that brand of light. On every gun you own.

The only thing it does that I would like on the Versa is the ability to cant.

I've been using this for about a month and I love it. Almost don't even use any of my other holsters anymore.

As far as cant, I just stuck the muzzel rod in a vice and torqued it 15 degrees. Worked just fine. ;)

I just received my second one in the mail today for my XD45 compact. Fit is a little tight, but should get better in 48hr according to the package. I love these holsters.

Doesn't this completely negate the trigger coverage? Can you take a picture?

Do you carry without a round in the chamber? Dunno if I'd trust that little plate to cover the trigger..

Just read their safety warning: "Do not carry any semi-auto firearm in a cocked and locked condition or with a live round."

Um no.

From the FAQ's.
12. Can a user carry with the Versacarry cocked and locked?

No, we do no recommend carrying cocked and locked. Like many in the firearm industry, we have adopted safety warnings that insure anyone who uses a firearm is safe. We can not know the level of firearm or safety training a user may have, so for safety, we recommend not carrying a loaded firearm. Any user should always fully read their firearm's instruction manual and carry under the manufacturers recommendations.

They recommend that a person doesn't carry a loaded firearm?? :?

I carry both my XD handgun locked and loaded. Don't have an issue with them in this holster. They are just saying that to keep them from getting sued...

+1

The 15 degree cant I put on actually allows the trigger cover to cover MORE of the trigger guard.

I'd be a little wary of a single action in this rig, but a solid striker fire with long first trigger pull (like my pps) is just fine.

Your biggest issue will be during placement on your belt (I.e. don't do it without loosening your pants duh). And I would NEVER try to reholster without taking the holster off again. Other that that best holster ever.

So, you feel better about holstering a gun without a manual safety than one with? I always feel better clicking on the safety of a 1911 and holstering than I do holstering a loaded striker fired gun. IMHO/YMMV/IANAL/BYOB

It's just that I've had my 1911 safety come off in some holster configs. Usually ones that don't confine the safety, and the versacarry is as unconfined as you can get. Now, maybe my thumb safety is a little light, and there is always the grip safety, so it's probably just me. ;)

Don't count on that grip safety. You'll likely already have it depressed when holstering.
