My former favorite was a Tucker Gun Leather "The Answer" holster. It is sweet. Carried my XDsc 9mm in it. I stopped using it when I picked up a XDs. My new holster for my XDs is a N8Tactical professional. It is extremely comfortable. It takes some getting used to the draw out of it. It has great retention. Practice makes perfect though.

I use an MTAC from Comp-Tac. But what belt are you carrying on? This sounds like something that would be solved by switching to a top tier gun belt like those from The Beltman, Looper Leather, Aker or Wilderness.

While I don't have a drawer full of holsters from which to convey the pluses and minuses of each...I like this one.

I also use an Old Faithful holster and I really like it. It's similar to the other kydex/leather-back hybrids like the Crossbreed. I carry my SR9c comfortably in it, and that's basically the same size as the M&P40c.

I have 3 Crossbreed holsters now, and am slowly accumulating more. Best holster ever produced IMO for conceal carry, and the quality and customer service is excellent

Another vote for the Crossbreed Holster. They make the best IWB in the market.

White Hat Holsters makes a holster just like Crossbreed, but all of White Hat's come in Horsehide. Price, build, and service are similar to Crossbreed. Both are hand made in the Land of the Free. I'd recommend either of these in a heartbeat.

I think there are better on the market than Crossbreed, such as the original Tucker 'Answer'.

I also don't care for the crosses advertising a holster, with the popularity of the brand it's not uncommon knowledge what it is... kind of takes away from the whole concealed is concealed concept.

FWIW PJ Holsters are affordable and comfortable.

I agree that the advertising takes away from concealment but if you recognize the cross you are likely to recognize any clip. If that is a worry take a look at the j-hooks and v-clips. Other hybrid holster makers have similar options. Personally, I like the c-clips that Galco offers as an option with their King-Tuk since it restricts motion down as well as up.
