Quad rail issue

Just recently ordered a Blackhawk quad rail for my S&W M&P 15 but seem to have difficulty installing it. Is it possible that the grooves of delta ring don't match quad rail or should they be universal?
I learn more from mistakes than from success, though given the option I prefer to learn from the mistakes of others.
