Grumpy wrote:Strad, I guess that I didn't mean any disrespect, but you act just like my kids...they know everything and I know nothing - until they get into the sheit......I have laid out several times about checking out a weapon and its components before use....I have even gone into describing for you on this board and in person what and how to get a platform to work correctly, especially checking out the glass for full functionality, reliability, and repeatability.......IF, like sometimes with my kids, I am wasting my time because you know better than I do, that is fine, then I will cease all recommendations and discussions............screw it, go out and have fun...............grumpy out!

And I appreciate every second. Whe I said I haven't run it through it's course of adjustment I was relating to this specific incident, not previous actions. If you had asked me if I have [i]ever[i] run the turrets through the full course of adjustment I would have said "Absolutely, just like you told me". Fact is I have not tried this as a remedy to my current problem.

I appreciate your comments, and look forward to future disucssions. I also realize (and should have learned from past postings) that some things don't translate well in intrawebese, and context is everything.

So back a few posts when I was answering Dean's question....

Yes, just like Gunny told me, but I have not tried this as a remedy for the problem I'm having right now.

Does that help clarify? I won't ever even pretend to "know better" than you when it comes to firearms gunny, you should know better.

Alright, good cigar tightly clinched between teeth, shots of Patron down the pipe..........

Strad, assuming that everything is still tight and centered, I will assume, without seeing it, that there are wire problems, and yes Nikon Monarchs have a lifetime warranty...should be regardless of owner transfers....I would send it back and have them realign it.....and yes, it will be a pain in the posterior....unless you are fortunate enough to find a locl dealer that will help you, just follow their instructions to get it repaired: http://www.nikonsportoptics.com/Service ... epair.page

According to their site http://www.nikonhunting.com/ the following is their warranty:
At Nikon, we believe the best warranty is one you’ll never have to use. For this reason, we crafted the Nikon Lifetime Full Warranty, which provides confidence on those rare occasions when something goes wrong. If any Nikon riflescope is found to have defects in workmanship or materials, we will, at our option, repair or replace it at no charge, even if you are not the original owner. No time limit applies and no
warranty card is required.

Good luck......and do have fun............... :P

Hand loads. Three different recipes that have all done nothing but sub moa groups in the past. I can be reasonably sure it isn't the ammunition.

It never hurts to bring up the obvious, just ask hammAR, hell tell you I can be a real dumb-ass........ he's not kidding. Anything will help, but I think thanks to other posters I have it narrowed down. I will find out this weekend, and keep you posted. :D

As stated before in this thread, check the crown of the barrel really well. As it is the last piece of barrel that touches the bullet, it can throw off a bullet really bad when damaged. A trick to do this is to wipe a cotton ball in a circular motion across the end of the muzzle. If any strands of cotton stick to the crown, you have a burr which is messing up your accuracy. Good news is that any competent gunsmith (read: Randy Hengl from Territorial Gunsmiths in Hopkins) kan very easily recrown any barrel. It may be a good thing to do no matter what, especially when you make it into a recessed crown which will protect the muzzle from inadvertent blows. Just my $0.02
I have a Colt Python and you don't so what do I care...
