What is the best Ruger Blackhawk Holster?

Postby boviki on Sat Apr 30, 2011 8:18 pm

First of all I would like to say that Thunderjohn rocks! Very pleased with my experience in dealing with him. Now that I have my 4.6" Ruger Blackhawk in 357/9mm blued I would like to get a holster. Probably a cross draw one. What are my choices? ( I did do a search and looked at a couple of those but would like your guys opinions).
Thanks

To make some sense of that, go to http://www.sideguardholsters.com/ ... it's owned and operated by one of the members here (Srigs)

Wrongo, Marge!

The correct answer we were looking for was Mernickle's Evil Roy ... Mernickle.

I have the original Evil Roy rig, the Evil Roy Wild Bunch rig, and an Evil Roy x-draw fer my Bisley Super Blackhawk Hunter.

I wanna say jest a holster's under $100 ... well worth it ... nothing else comes close. The mouth is flared for faster/smoother reholstering (Mernickle's a big fast-draw freak) ... the holster's lined (that's two-ply, smooth out ... rough side is like a sponge fer grime) ... with a steel insert (to keep its shape). Lots of guys use a kydex insert ... if at all. I've had some mag-holders close-up on me settin' in the truck in the sun. I'll take steel, thanks!

The Kydex lined are easier to get a fit to ones own preference, Metal lined can be formed as well but not as easy as Kydex.
My kydex holsters have spent the most of the last 8yrs in the rear of my vehicles dureing the summer months without a problem mine are not Mernickles but who ever it was that was doing the Evil Roys prior to Mernickle.

As soon as I hit the submit button I remembered that there Kirkpatrick.

Mernickle. Buy your second holster first. I bought a complete Evil Roy rig from him. Would do it again.
