Time for a new carry belt...

Postby Exjay on Tue Feb 21, 2012 10:12 pm

So due to my last carry belt going missing Ive been using a dress belt in hopes id find it. lets just say it time to fork over the $ for a replacement. My last one worked well it just wasnt my cup of tea.

Now my question is what are you using? What do/dont you like about it? There are a thousand people making belts what made you choose what you did?

I need something that can be used from everything from jeans and a tshirt to casual dress without looking out of place so leather is a must, I dont really wanna wait 2 months to recive it in the mail and I'd like to spend under $80. What are some good options?

Streichers in Plymouth has some good gun belts. I had a Gould and Goodrich, and now a 5.11. They both work well and are under $50.00.

+1 on the Looper belt and Unholstered.com. Plus, Ron apparently sprints to the post office within seconds of receiving your order.

i have a Galco Instructor's Belt (although i'm not an instructor.... shhhh) and i like it. granted, it SCREAMS that i'm carrying a gun, but so what? so far, after a month of wearing that belt with a Gov't 1911 or a 6" 357, no issues

I was looking at buying this Safariland 851 but it was a bit expensive. I might get it at a later time though.

I just got a comp-tac belt that is 2 thick pieces of leather, sewn together with a strip of kydex in the middle.

This sucker is stiff, and thick. But it keeps my OWB holster rigid and in the right place.
Down side: I can't tuck the tail into a belt loop, 2 layers of belt won't fit.

If you want cheap that will work, check out Cabalas. They have a $40 belt that they will put on sale occasionally for $20. The buckle is junk but if you have a 1 1/2 buckle laying around, Cabela's belt would work fine.

I have one that I have occasionally use over the last couple of years, so I cannot give an honest opinion as to it's durability.

This guy posted a short time ago but got jumped on by people so deleted his initial post, if memory services.
I did order one and only had it a couple of weeks. But seems well made and at a reasonable price.

Thanks Pat, saves me the time of having to re-type all that. I will add that a lot of double thick belts will be difficult to get through belt loops on anything but jeans. Also, most dress pants have 1.25" belt loops and most gun belts are at least 1.5". I'm going to be ordering another Looper this summer after 6 years or so with this one, the wife complains all the time that I only have one belt, with a belt this good what do I need others for.

Just ordered 3 of these:

Very good belt for the price. Will not work too well with some kydex fitted slot holsters.

I've got one in brown and black with the Velcro lining. I like them but they're a little thick for dress clothes. I'd be willing to sell one or both for cheap.

I have a 1 1/4 and a 1 1/2 from the belt man. If they wear out I'm going back. I like the 1 1/2 better. I know the 1 1/4 is leather. The 1 1/2 might be horse.

Just saw this at Fleet Farm. If I'd realized my waist was the same size as a cow's neck I could have saved forty bucks!
