Running and Carrying

To those of you who carry while running: How do you do it?

I've got spring and autumn figured out (light jacket or vest with pockets).

But what about summer, when even a T-shirt feels heavy?

I don’t run anymore but, I do take brisk walks. I wear a Galco ® fanny pack which allows me to carry my wallet, house keys, cell phone and of course my gun, even an extra magazine. The pack is designed to carry a gun; it is very well built and moisture resistant, too. I bought mine in ‘94’ and it still looks new.

With actual running shorts or sweats smartcarry is probably you're answer. I've had very good luck with either jean or khaki shorts and a quality IWB, it would probably work the same with a level 2 or higher OWB but I've never tried it.

There are only two instances that I can picture myself running. Either running for cover under fire or running from a pissed off bear. In both scenarios I would have my carry gun firmly in my right hand.

What do you mean? "Running"? Was somebody chasing you?

I would have to be really close to a house or car to try running from a bear. I'm fat bears are fast. I would rather go out rested, firing guns.

Greg run on a treadmill. Its in the A/C and you can have what ever gun you want close by, with on in the cup holder. And you can watch TV, surf the net, and eat donuts.

I tried smart carry, the pistol kept bouncing on my pubic bone. Not fun.

Because I ran in the morning (7:30am in the summer) and the nature of crime in the area, I figured a folding knife was good enough.

Otherwise you are looking at running in something with belt loops so you can do a IWB.

Some sort of fanny pack worn in the back is looking like the best option. Water bottle in the left pocket, gun in the right.
