XDM 5.25 "sights" question

Postby rugersol on Tue Jul 17, 2012 12:35 pm

I'm considering a new 5.25 XDM, and checking out my options.

Not a huge deal, but it's possible I'd like to replace the sights with the XS Sights "Big Dot".

Then I saw this ... http://www.pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=XSBD247

Will NOT fit XDm 5.25.

... only, it don't say why?!

I presume it's either gotta do with the dovetails and/or the adjustable rear sight on the 5.25 ... maybe sight-height/alignment? Image

It would be the rear sight on the 5.25. Being it is milled into the slide and pivots on a pin pressed into the slide. The normal XDm sights are mounted into dovetail slots cut in to the slide at the front and back. The 5.25 is missing the dovetail on the rear.

I left the rear stock and milled the front to 0.100" on both of mine and love it. I could have purchased a 0.100" but I did not want to spend the cash.

I don't think you'll need to mess with it. As you are not buying it for the sights, get it - try it. You'll like it.

I like mine.
