looking for another IWB holster, need suggestions

Postby rukwikenuf on Fri Mar 22, 2013 7:55 am

ok, here's the thing. i don't need any suggestions off base. i know the Crossbreed SuperTuck and Galco King Tuk are good holsters. i've tried them, they don't fit my gun properly (SIG 1911). plus, i like leather.

so. i've carried in a Galco Summer Comfort and a Tagua OWB pancake type holster and liked them both. however, the weight of the fullsize 1911 makes the Summer Comfort want to tilt backwards, even with a good gunbelt. i'm looking at the Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 holster, but i don't like the 22-26 week backlog!

is there anything similar to the VM2 out there? i saw the Galco V-Hawk, but i don't want to spend $125+ on a mass-produced holster!!! i'm looking for readily available, gents!!!

The Tucker Texas Heritage or Secret used to be the standard go to for those that wanted a VMII without the wait times and order difficulties. I have no idea if that is still the case but I've never heard a bad thing about Tucker.

I checked them out and they look really nice. I just got a SR9c. What is the major difference between the versa-clip (not reinforced) and the cumberland (reinforced)? It appears the only difference is the reinforcement? I want thinner for more comfort and am leaning towards the versa-clip. Thanks!

You've got the gist of the difference. I personally use a cuda with inside out straps for my m&p, a sourdough with inside out for GP100 and I just ordered another cuda for my new 3" STI Spartan. I think value and quality for your $$$ is unbeatable.

I got a theis holster for my sig 1911. It's basically a crossbreed, only molded to an actual sig 1911. I ordered one of these http://www.tacticalholsters.com/product/INC/INCOG.html to see if I like it better.

I have always been a big fan of Blade-Tech's IWB holsters. I can easily conceal an XD45 when wearing a sweater. Their Nano IWB has a very small profile.

I know you don't want to wait 22-26 weeks for a VM2, but it will be well worth it. I've tried many other IWB, but they are the only ones I keep using. Order a VM2 and buy a cheap IWB then sell it when the VM2 arrives.

I would recommend the Holster Store. Online. Each one is custom made leather to your model with several options. I have 3 of them . They are US made in Florida, usually about a 1 week turn around and very reasonably priced.
