Looking for hoster

Postby maddhunter on Thu Oct 24, 2013 5:55 pm

Just purchased a Sig 2022 in 9mm. Now I need a holster. Would like OSB model for use at the range. Need opinions as to what manufacturer to buy. Please only respond with factual info. I only want to buy one to start with. Thanks

This has been scientifically proven to be impossible. :D

Being a little more serious, You looking for Leather, Kydex... Belt or paddle, retention level, for use in competition or look pretty and some range use? You pose one of those questions that really does not have one answer.

If you are looking for leather

If your looking for Kydex

Those are my two go too holster manufactures

only holster I would buy for carry purpose.

He has worked with me in the past and made me a Extreme Cant Paddle for free by buying the Bluegun training pistol and sending him it. He kept the blue gun and I got the holster. So call him if your pistol is not a listed model.

for using at the range my personal preference is a blackhawk serpa holster. For carry I am currently leaning alien gear's way. Everyone is going to have their own preferences, these are mine.

http://www.firearmholster.com has one of the more universal holsters I've seen. I've got one, but have not tried it yet as I'm still waiting for my XDS to come back from Springfield.

A note on the Blackhawk Serpa holster, it is banned for use by many training organizations for safety reasons. Do a search with "Blackhaw Serpa holster training banned" and you should find the info. My understanding is that during the draw, especially under stress, the shooter depresses the retention button with the finger and fails to release finger pressure as the handgun clears the holster. End result is the finger slips into the trigger area during the draw and the continued trigger pressure fires the handgun into the holster, so possibly into the leg.

Looking for hoster

I'd have to look again but didn't several of the SERPA related shootings involve 1911s and shooters taking safety off real early and possibly riding the trigger early.

I had a serpa. About the third time I tried to pull my pants up over my shoulder when the timer beeped, I quit using it. If you go with a SERPA, practice the drawstroke a LOT with an empty gun. As Cobb mentioned, watch your finger movement.

I think OSB is short for Oriented Strand Board. It's used quite a bit in construction.

You guys are a tough crowd to play to!!!(LOL). Besides learning how to spell holster correctly I should have been a little more specific about wants/needs for the holster. First of all I meant to write OWB. Secondly I have a friend who is avid IDPA shooter and has volunteered to tutor me in some of the aspects of IDPA shooting. I was looking for first hand info on a holster that would fit the 2022 and hold up to use over time in all kinds of weather. Don't want to just buy a nylon type holster. Please don't tell me I should buy a holster that I plan on using to CC with the pistol. Don't know if I would ever carry this particular pistol at this time. Hope this helps. Can't wait for replies.

I've shot amd qualified 24 different LE qualification courses including the US air marshal. Used the rmholster for it all

The ECP can be used as a paddle or with a belt or both

For IDPA I would stick with the Blade Tech -- http://shop.blade-tech.com/owb-holster- ... mqFU5FNwVt
with a couple of these http://shop.blade-tech.com/single-pouch ... mqGQJFNwVs

You have to go through and select your Gun Manf and type but they will have what you want. You can get Blade Tech locally from http://www.unholstered.com or order directly off the Manuf website.
