key mod vs. m-lock vs. quad rail educate me please.

I want to order an upper and noticed the above captioned choices for a handguard. What are the pluses and minuses of each ?

I've seen elsewhere that a full length quadrail can be like a cheese grater in you hands. I assume the other styles are designed to fix that. Correct?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I"ve ventured into buying a M-lock rail, like the lightness of it but , not as many choices for accessories as the key mod , quad rail is too heavy and too snaggy IMHO.

They do make a ladder looking thing that smoothes the quad rails to smooth (done on both of mine) BUT quads are still super bulky. If I was using for more than target or still hunting I would switch them out.

Keymod vs MLOK is Ford vs Chevy. It depends on what manufacturer's rail you want to buy. If you want the BCM KMR, you have basically chosen Keymod by default, etc. Look at handguards and figure out which manufacture you like and what features you like. There are more accessories for Keymod, but there are more coming out all the time for MLOK.

Railed handguards are the past and they're being phased out. They are excess weight, sharp, and snag on gear and clothing if left uncovered.
