Best scopes to use on a AR-15

Would a Leupold VX 3i do the trick? I use my AR to hunt rodents occasionally.

"Best" is really subjective. What distances? What is your max budget?

Exactly!

Best is what meets your needs and budget. But you can't go wrong with a vx3. I have a few redfield 2-7's on AR's they work great and would be comparable to a leupold rifleman scope. If you plan to hunt a vx3 would be a better option. If you have the money vx6 is awesome. I have a few on bolt guns.

My 10-40 power with a 50mm objective is over-kill, unless shooting way out there.

Nothing wrong with a good 2-7 or 3-9 if quality is there.

I have several Vortex PST 1-4 x 24mm on my AR rifles and love them. They are true 1x and work as well as my Eotech's at close range and still can reach out to 200 + yards if needed.

They have a cheaper model with similar specs but I did not think it was near as this middle of the line model.

They also have a more expensive 1-6 x 24 but haven't tried it. I would think it would be good too and push your range out a little farther.
Because I care, I carry.

Just got a Primary Arms 1-6x24 with the ACSS reticle for 300blk/x39, and I'm really surprised by it for the price tag.
