A recently acquired upper sports an M-Lok Handguard. I understand the T-Nut concept and that is why I opted for this over Quad Rail or Key-Mod.

How best to adorn that handguard?
Some assumption I have - right or wrong - teach me.
- aluminum over Polymer for the T-Nut attached Pictinny sections.
- Pictinny rail sections vs. direct bolt on M-Lok accessories - bi-pod etc.
- not sure what pieces I need - I'm not an operator but will be using the Grendel upper for paper and hunting.

This handguard has machined in QD sling sockets - Anything I should be looking for in a sling? Continuous top rail will allow me to mount an optic.

Let me know if you have any thoughts.

My thoughts

I'm not versed in the m-Lok everything I have is picatinny, from my dbal to my bipods. If you will be sharing those attachments between rifles then you need to keep them common.

I like the QD sling disconnects, they work well. You'll need it for hunting so find a comfortable hunting sling. I have this one https://www.larue.com/products/larue-tactical-padded-sling/, wait for a sale if you go that route.

I wouldn't mount an optic on a handguard rail, keep it on the upper receiver.

If you can do without them, Picatinny rail sections shouldn't be needed since the long slots of the M-Lok system offer plenty of adjustability. the rails will just add un-needed weight. (Unless the accessory you want needs a rail, or you need QD)

As far as slings, I have a Magpul MS4, Blackhawk 3 point, Blue Force Tactical Vickers, and a Viking Tactical sling. Here's what I found out:
I love QD points on both ends.
I hate the 3 point slings.
The V-Tac sling is wearing out faster. (But still last almost forever)
Even though the thin straps (like the V-Tac) are lighter, they're less comfortable.
I like the heat retarding feature of the Blue Force.
The Magpul MS4 is easiest to use but also the heaviest.

My favorite (of the ones I own) is the MS4.

Thank you. I have a PEEPER cantalevered scope mount. I also have Nikon 3 4x12x42 scope to mount. I got the scope from Gander before they closed. I will need a sling swivel M-Lok attachment for the Harris bipod. Any brands of M-Lok parts I should avoid? Aluminum only?

Arisaka makes high quality M-Lok parts. I have their inline and offset light mounts, finger stops and ingenious scope leveler.
Thay also have lo-pro and picatinny bipod mounts.

I haven't heard of any bad ones. I'm sure of the eBay Chinese stuff could give you problems, but I'd think most of the brands you've already heard of should be fine.
