Need optic suggestions

Postby Scratch on Sun Apr 26, 2020 12:39 pm

I'm building an AR9 and need a new optic, I want it to be a red dot sight. Being an FFL, I get a lot of questions on products so I like to try out lots of different ones, that being said, I don't want to get another one of what I already have or have used a lot of, but I only want ones that are "popular" that people know of and would probably ask about.

These are crossed off my list:
Eotech XPS2
Aimpont PRO
Voretex Sparc
Vortex strikefire 2
Primary Arms AMD
Bushnell TRS-25

I think I want something small and light like Primary Arms AMD size versus strikefire size, I want it to have one of those super long battery life's, and I really like the included caps like the Aimpoint Pro and H2 models. I'm thinking about either the Aimpoint H2, one of the Sig or Holosun units, but am open to other options.

I'm not sure I'm a big fan of the look of reflex sights on AR's like the RMR, but I guess I'm not "totally" against them...

Any suggestions?

I have Aimpoint pros on two of my "real" ARs.

They work.

It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

Plus their customer service is 1st rate. I managed to launch both the battery cap, and battery into that ether where springs, and esoteric screws end up. Within an hour after emailing Aimpoint,I got an email requesting my address. Two days later I had a new battery, and battery cap, gratis.

I've decided on a Holosun HS515GM. I've heard good things about it, and is in my price point at around $320. It's on backorder right now but hopefully will show up soon.
