Spartan tactical grease

Postby yukonjasper on Sun Mar 13, 2022 7:22 pm

Just got an email touting this as the best thing since gunpowder and they want me to buy some.

Anyone have any experience or is it hype and there are many products similar to it?

Here is an Amazon link.

I figured anyone in this forum would have half-a-gallon of Ed's Red sitting on their bench.

Only $18 for 2 oz, what a deal!

For that kind of money you could buy a pint sized tub of wheel bearing grease and probably get the same product.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Many lubes/greases like it.
Slide-glide
cherry-balmz
stos (slicker than owl ****)
tw-25

red and tacky #2 auto grease or any #2 auto grease mixed with STP will get you something very similar.

They all have there place, and followers/haters etc

Best stuff I ever tried, had an unusual odor.

A small bottle with my great grandfathers old hammer double 10 ga.

Spermaceti oil.

Too bad, they don’t sell that anymore…

Yep. Old sperm whale oil. It went on well, and has kept that old gun in excellent shape since he put it away. When my grandfather died, cleaning out his house. If that gun had been taken out of its case since 1916, I’d be surprised.

My dad didn’t know it even existed till then.

Spermaceti oil was what was commonly used the transmissions. Delron ATF was designed as a synthetic replacement.

I typically use tw-25 for handgun slides, zero friction for oil where I want a spot. Ewg and ewl for ARs and auto shotguns, a few others for other stuff.

It’s all cracked soybean oil based. Poor thermal control and gets tacky.

You’re paying $17.50 for the hype and $.50 for a tube of grease.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.
