From the CL ad

"$60 per person (you pay range expenses) with a $30 deposite"

Sounds like a well run group.

There are plenty of sub-par instructors that don't mind misrepresenting state law in order to appeal to the masses. There are others that will participate in less the reputable marketing practices... Just because someone is financially motivated, does not mean it's a bad class. IMHO, it'n not a good start.

Because I had already spent the money, so might as well take the class. I did it on a whim since my dad and bought it and wanted me to take it with him and figured it was time I got my permit to carry. :?

Will see if leason learned the hard way, or turns out to be worth my time/money.

I hope you don't get what you paid for, a cut rate job. I did that with a carpet cleaning service and got a rushed job and regretted it, but my liberty and life was not on the line. I know nothing about Midwest or its principal(s), the class may be great. But I think most instructors would agree 900 is a ton of students in a few months.

Most of our students are referrals. We do get a few calls a year saying, hey I know about guns, can I just give you $50 and show up for the law and the shooting
test? We advise we charge $125 for a 7 hour class that we team teach and limit class to 16 students. We feel that even experienced students learn something, but then we are not objective.

I'm sure an instructor could hold a pretty big class if they put their mind to it. :)

They've already allowed firearms to be fired inside it.

I think there are a few that advertise as concealed carry course, I know Bills still lists theres as such.
Just did a quick Google on Mn concealed carry and many of the locals came up, I think many atleast mention concealed carry so that they get a hit with a Google search.

I have never heard of Midwest before this thread, My first class was with Darrel Mulroy and later with Plus P next was a class given by one of the regulars here a 2/$75 couples class with a cameo from another forum member and a class from another gun forum for $250 the biggest difference I could see in the classes was $212.50  Perhaps the other classes and reading both versions of the Mn carry book filled in gaps I didnt notice. I have already decided on a class from yet another forum member here unless that 2/$75 couples class is offered again ;) :D

I bought the voucher for my wife and myself then signed up for the first class. It was not bad...not terribly comprehensive. Mostly discussing case law situations. For the shooting test...just needed to shoot 2 clips (cylinders in my case) and show some proficiency and safe firearm handling. They constantly stated in the course that if one intended to really carry, they would need to train, train, train. All in all it was worth it, but I came with 40 years of shooting experience. I got the certificate it is valid to get the CCW permit. That's next!

This is NOT a reflection of you, but of the instruction. If tou did not come out the the class knowing that MN does not have a "CCW" (its a "permit to carry") not to mention correct gun terminology, I remain sceptical.

Not to mention the fact that Midwest Carry Academy misrepresented their pricing to maintain a better margin on the coupon.

If you feel like you did not get what you needed in the class, please PM me and you can come to my class free of charge.

Hope you get your permit promptly and stay safe!

Back again... on CrowdCut this time.

At least they have consistent pricing on their website NOW, and removed the incriminating craigslist ads.... Great marketing strategy though, right? Double your price, and then say it's 50% off?
