they are on DealFind this weekend and I just bought one.
http://www.dealfind.com/minneapolis-st- ... rryacademy

came across this thread when I was searching the company name on google to check the legitimacy, and originally was worried but spoke to the owner (Chris I think?) on the phone before buying it to make sure it was all good. apparently the amount sold doesnt interfere with the class space as since you book your time online for the course, the course automatically removes itself from the options when its full, so all of the courses listed on their site this can be redeemed on. I guess lots of people have been buying these for gifts for their wives and such so people aren't redeeming them too quickly.

I dunno, seems pretty legit as all the other actual courses I could actually find prices for online were more expensive anyways.

I took my renewal from Midwest Carry Academy and it was actually a really great course. My previous course I took from another instructor and he was just concerned with getting us out the door and only covered the very basics.

I learned a lot of new information on the laws (and found out that my previous instructor didnt know what he was talking about) but most importantly the training and defensive shooting drills they taught us was really helpful!

I've recomending 3 of my friends to take this course; one has never even touched a gun, the other has been shooting for 25 years and last one is a member a SWAT team and they all thought this was a great course.

For the shooting test...just needed to shoot 2 clips (cylinders in my case) and show some proficiency and safe firearm handling. They constantly stated in the course that if one intended to really carry, they would need to train, train, train. All in all it was worth it, but I came with 40 years of shooting experience. I got the certificate it is valid to get the CCW permit. That's next!

This is NOT a reflection of you, but of the instruction. If tou did not come out the the class knowing that MN does not have a "CCW" (its a "permit to carry") not to mention correct gun terminology, I remain sceptical.

Not to mention the fact that Midwest Carry Academy misrepresented their pricing to maintain a better margin on the coupon.

If you feel like you did not get what you needed in the class, please PM me and you can come to my class free of charge.

Hope you get your permit promptly and stay safe!

I've taken a couple of permit courses and they actually did a very good job.

Huh? Shooting drills? This must be a different class than the permit to carry course, as the one I took, all they wanted you to do was shoot a handfull of rounds down range and that was it. :?:

Makes sense since it sounded like another midwest carry permit to carry class than what I took
