Complete poly AR lowers Group buy *update*

Postby rockcreek on Tue Feb 28, 2012 8:34 am

Ok, here is the group buy for the NFA complete poly lowers. They will be $99 tax and transfer included, if you pick them up at my location. I can ship them for an additional $5 to your FFL. These are complete lowers with 6 postion stock, buffer, spring, pistol grip, and complete fire control group, you will only need an upper and magazine to have a complete AR. The lowers come with a lifetime warranty. Get the complete specs, and watch the torture test at http://www.lw15.com . Please post how many you would like, expected delivery in mid-March. I am going to limit this to 10 lowers for right now, but may be able to get more if there is enough demand. I will have some complete uppers w/bolt carrier group available with these, from whoever I can get the best pricing and availability, DPMS, Del-Ton, or Olympic. I can also build an upper to your specs.

UPDATE 3/15: The shipment has been delayed until next week, I will notify everyone by PM when thet are in. Sorry for the delay. I also have another shipment of them coming in the week of the 25th, so I will give forum members first dibs on those when I have them in hand.

UDATE PART 2- 3/27: They have been delayed yet again, I sincerely appologize, I had no idea this would take so long. My orders from them in the past have taken a day or two. If anyone wants to retract their order, I completely understand.

I'm interested in one, but I'm a total noob when it comes to ARs. If you could answer a couple questions, I would appreciate it.

1. You mention these are NFA lowers. Other than filling out a 4473, do I need to do anything special (ie: tax stamp) to purchase one of these?
2. Are these mil-spec lowers? (and what's the difference between mil-spec and non?)

NFA- New Frontier Armory, I guess I should have been more clear. These are titled as an "other firearm" and can be transfered to anyone over 21. They are built to mil-spec dimentions, and will mate to any mil-spec upper. Trigger group parts will also interchange with any standard AR parts.

The receiver torture test is only half the answer. They put it in a whatever ton press and only measure deflection, not pressure. Sure, the plastic will deflect more and return to almost original; but how much force will it take before failure? I bet the aluminum had a lot more pressure on it than the plastic did.

Am I reading this right? I walk in with a $100, go through the paperwork formalities and walk out with a complete AR lower and $1?

That is going to get me into so much trouble. Let me consult the CFO.

Rockcreek, do you know any more details about the product that might eliminate some of the confusion created by the internet rumors floating around? For $100 this seems like a no brainer, but I got myself caught up in reading reviews I could find online. Caused me to hesitate as I continue to look for more answers. I'm hoping you might have more information from the dealer as I suspect you've spent a fair amount of time researching these if you're suggesting a group buy. For example, do you happen to know whether the NFA guys are related in any way to the Plum Crazy guys in the past? Also, I read something about the selector being able to be switched to safe without the bolt charged and the possibility that NFA may or may not be issuing a kit or some change to the new lowers to make the safeties operate more like a traditional AR. Finally, any chance you may be planning to package the purchase of these lowers with a dedicated .22 upper, as I don't think I'd worry about pressure running one of those on top of these.

Thanks,
Mark

I have had several of these, as I wanted to make sure they weren't too good to be true. The safety on the latest units operates the same as a standard AR, they can't be put on safe without the hammer cocked. To the best of my knowledge, NFA is not affilitaed with Plum Crazy, although at least some of the fire control parts appear to be the same. When they were developing the LW15, they wanted to surpass the strength and durability of the PC lowers. I have no worries about running any standard upper on them. I can certainly get some rimfire uppers if you guys are interested.
