Midway and Brownell's (among others I'm sure) are taking backorders at a 'normal' retail price. I think it would be a poor choice for them not to add a caveat if they weren't going to hold their price.

Midway has a limit of two per sku!

Brownell's don't appear to have a limit... as of yet! :?

Thanks Ed!... when I checked the other day, they we're simply "discontinued by manufacturer" ...not holding my breath, though! ;)

According to Brownell's , Magpul appears to only be producing black 20 & 30 rd mags. That's the only one's they''ll back order.

ETA:
They must be busy. I just got the order confirmation for some stuff I ordered almost 48 hours ago...
I did order some mags; just says back ordered, no ETA for delivery...

I did a Brownell's backorder of Black Pmag 10-Packs in 30rd and 20rd configurations at about 9AM this morning. Backordered yes, but it took the order and spit out a receipt to my email. With code "DSR" you get free shipping so 20 mags was $258.50 shipped. Better than the $40, $50 or $60 a piece I've seen them going for on Armslist, Gunbroker and even on here. I figure Brownell's is probably higher on the food chain than some of the smaller online sites, so I ordered with them. I can wait a few months if need be as I have a ton already.

DSG Arms has 10 packs on sale until the end of tonight for 110 shipped. They are back ordered like everyone else but will honor the price when inventory comes in. Not sure where they rate "on the food chain" but they got a shipment in of 1900 m3 pmags last week and they said that's a typical amount received.

Isn't it true that Magpul isn't even making Gen2 Pmags anymore?

So, could it be possible that everyone who ordered Gen2 Pmags during the rush that are on back order now, might end up getting Gen3 because those are all that's made new?

Magpul News

PMAG 20 AR/M4 GEN M3 IS NOW SHIPPING, PMAG 10 AR/M4 GEN M3 COMING IN 2013

These are a little later than anticipated due to production optimization of our standard capacity magazines, but we now have added capacity to produce the GEN M3 20rd magazine as well as have all the standard mags running ‘round the clock. And so, without further fanfare, we give you the PMAG 20 GEN M3. The PMAG 20 AR/M4 GEN M3 includes all of the GEN M3 improvements, including constant curve geometry, which is a change from our previous straight 20rd PMAG.

We are also taking this opportunity to announce the PMAG 10 GEN M3, although this reduced capacity magazine will not be ready for release until early February, as we focus our current manufacturing capabilities on the standard capacity magazines.

Also, as promised, the PMAG 30 GEN M3 WINDOW is starting production, and we should be shipping before the first of the year.

I put in an order of 20 on that deal a week ago Sunday when they were still in stock - they've ZERO'd out my order quantity and removed it from the total as of Wednesday. I'm still unsure if they're going to honor my purchase. Nothing has shipped, and they haven't responded to my email.

So far, I'm not pleased. I just hope they do the right thing and send me my damn mags!

Looks like they just had a sale on mags; ended 7+ hours ago at midnight. Maybe they were flushing out the last of the Gen 2s.
According to Magpul's website, DGS is a top distributor and retailer of Magpul stuff.

Right, I bought 10 of them about 3 weeks ago. All gen 2's. No problem at all with the order.

So the shooting happened Friday, Sunday I put in an order for 20 more, and by Wed they stripped the pmags off my order and charged my card $30 for 4 cans of spray paint (12 bucks shipping!). There was no frenzy going on when I placed my order. They've effed me thus far, and unless they make this right, I'll be posting it far and wide across the net. This is a CTD deal in my eyes right now. I had made an order and they're not honoring it.

They had no bum rush happening Sunday, or Monday, and then Tuesday things went nuts. Had they processed my order quicker, there never would've been a problem. They probably sold out my mags from under me. I'm not happy!

Not sure what happened but it sounds like they just didn't have any M2s left to ship at that point. Typically what happens on split orders like that is you pay the shipping amount agreed to when the in stock items ship and nothing when the BO stuff comes in. I know they got swamped like everyone else and as such email support suffered. I can only imagine the amount of mail they are getting a day asking for mags. And when it comes to 6920's they've always been the lowest priced retailer and still haven't raised their prices. I did have good luck calling them and getting support though. The Wednesday after the shooting their website was showing the 30rd M3s as in stock so I called to confirm. At first the guy who answered chuckled but I let him know the website was showing it as in stock that day but on the previous is was not. He did a little more checking and sure enough they had just gotten in 1900. From there it was simply how many do you want? There were no restrictions on quantity and in hindsight I should have bought a couple hundred. :)

I ordered a 10-pack from DSG last night at about 11:45PM just for craps and giggles. They gave me the $109.85 shipped price for 10. I was sent a receipt for the backorder right away. Worst case, I do a chargeback if they screw with me and don't deliver. Thus far, it seems legit to me. The mags on special were obviously labeled as Gen-2. That's fine by me as I've never had issues with Gen-2 over the past few years I've shot AR's. I like G.I.'s just as much, and I'm pretty sure I could trade someone 1-to-1 on the Gen-2 Pmags for G.I. mags if I wanted to.

That's what Brownell's did on my order-(I had to research the practice via their FAQs )... the invoice for a sale priced $10 book showed $14 shipping. When the 2 x10 pac of the mags ship, it will be for no charge.
