No that's profiteering on the people who make your business.

No it's not. It's about right on retail markup for soft goods. Are restaurants gouging you by charging 3-4 times their food cost on the menu? 6-7 times their liquor cost? I'll make it easy- the answer is "no".
Element (and every independent gun store) is a SMALL retailer and has SMALL leverage with their suppliers. In a tight supply market, they are at the bottom of the "orders to fill" list. Manufacturers and distributors are always gonna ship their biggest customers because one invoice, one shipment, one production run is ALWAYS more profitable. Large sophisticated buyers (like Walmart) usually have "fill rate" clauses in their contracts with penalties for poor performance. These contracts drive the choices of manufacturers and distributors.
If Element cannot get the product from their normal supply chain, they automatically lose a sale. If they can get it at inflated cost, they can make a sale at inflated price. They lay out their capital, they assume the inventory risk/burden, they get the return (or not) on the sale. Some will pay, some will not, some will cluelessly piss and moan on the internet. For such a well educated state, Minnesotans seem to have a huge lack of understanding in how business works. Probably why we have Dayton and the DFL D-bags running things.
I'm lucky/happy/whatever to sit this one out. I have stocked myself pretty well in all gun things that are subject to political or financial volatility. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this stuff out. I counsel all of you to do the same the next time the market on these things dips. While we have a right to keep and bear arms, we do not have a right to do it in a cheap, affordable, pick your preference manner. Grow up, be responsible (and not an economic victim) and get over it.
