Gander Mountain Woodbury Mags & Ammo

Postby JohnGageMN on Fri Mar 01, 2013 7:39 pm

Just got home from the Woodbury Gander Mountain. Here's a rundown of what they had:

AR15 mags: Command Arms 30 round poly mags - $20 - about 30 or so left in stock

Ammo:
.223/5.56 - only varmint loads, >$1/round

Saw some 7.62x39 and 7.62x54 there, didn't catch the prices

9mm - Some single boxes, $20+ per box, no bulk

.38spl - $25/CCI aluminum case (25 or so boxes), $28/Winchester brass case (25 or so boxes), UMC 250rd bulk pack $110 (3 left)

.380Auto - lots of 50rd boxes @ $25 ea, 100rd packs for $50, Blazer Brass 250rd bulk packs for $100 (several dozen)

.40S&W - some 50 rd boxes for $25+ ea, Blazer Brass 250rd bulk packs for $100 (several dozen)

.45Auto - didn't look for singles, Blazer Brass 200rd bulk packs for $100 (10 - 15 left)

Yeah, the prices aren't great, but I can't find .40 .380 anywhere lately for less than these bulk prices. :P

Sign up says limit of 1 bulk pack or 10 normal boxes per customer. Not sure how heavily enforced. I bought four of the CAA mags, didn't see a sign about quantities on those. Helpful employee at the gun counter spent some time showing me some glass and said they had actually gotten some PMags with the ammo shipment yesterday, those all sold by this morning and were also going for $20 each. This is the first time I have looked at the CAA mags, but they feel like good quality mags, seem VERY comparable to a PMag and are made in Israel so I tend to think they'll work well.

ETA: Almost forgot: no bricks of .22lr, but a few of .22 shorts, several dozen small boxes of .22lr.

Fleet Farm has had for a couple weeks now a lot of the WWB .40 100 round boxes for under $35

Which one? Last few times I called the Oakdale & Hudson ones (the only ones reasonably close to me) they had nothing but PD ammo, and I've got plenty of that. Whenever I've been in the areas I've popped in and found squat for FMJ. I can't justify the trek to Blaine or Carver to buy ammo unless I've got other business in those parts of town. Gas is too expensive and time is a precious commodity...

Just saw the post a bit ago that they put a bunch out at Oakdale, so I may make the trip there in the AM to grab a few boxes depending on how bad my checkbook looks in the morning...

Blaine has had a crap load for about two weeks now.
They still had about twenty boxes today.

I feel like a butt head for buying 2 bulk packs of blazer 9mm this morning if there was a sign saying only one. But a guy in front of me bought 3 so I guess I don't feel that bad.

Who knows, maybe that sign wasn't up at the time. It was a pink colored 8.5x11 sign posted at the top center of the handgun ammo shelving. Don't feel bad about it, it's not like you cleaned off the shelves and listed it on Armslist or Gunbroker, and it's the store's responsibility to enforce the policy. <shrug>

I was just glad to see they had some prices on things I wanted that I could live with. I could really have used one of those bulk packs of .38spl too, but I couldn't bring myself to pay $22 a box for that in bulk... :P I'm hoping the run on .38 inventory is short lived, for now I have enough supplies for my other guns that I can keep myself occupied at the range without my J-frame.

Good to know. Like I said, I just don't get that far north regularly, and a $2 a box savings isn't worth a special trip between gas money and time unless I'm desperate. Thankfully I've weathered things well enough so far that I haven't had to burn up too much gasoline hunting for ammo. One of the brothers from my club lives in Lino, maybe I'll see if he can snag me a box or two next time he's going there.

This. I was at FF in Carver last Friday and all they had was .40 and .45 ACP and they had an absolute ton of both, I'm talking different brands and probably 40 boxes of each kind. I thought it was weird to see that much ammo so they must have just stocked the shelves.

Well, I stopped in to the Oakdale Fleet Farm this morning and there was nary a shell of .40 to be found. Did get a bulk pack of Magtech .380 for $79.99 though.
