Gander Rogers - opening April 30th

Postby Nalez on Fri Apr 26, 2013 6:33 pm

FYI, Ran past Gander on my way to Cabelas today. nice 8.5x11 signs on the front with the simple phrase "Opening April 30th".

If its like I think it will be, they should have ammo for about 4 hours, and decent firearms for about 2 days - Then the stock will be what everything else is.

I am guessing the prices will be higher than wal-mart but lower than Gunbroker :-)

I ran into Blaine Gander last night to see if I could raid all their old 2012 DNR hunting regs for my FAS class, wentr to the Pistol ammo shelf to see if I might get lucky and find some .22LR but all they had was Winchester White box .40 cal for $49.99 a box.

FF is or was $34.95 last one I found there and same at Wally world.

Are you certain of the date? I was told the Grand Opening is on May 1st and had plans to drive up. If you know otherwise, please let me know.

Thanks

The sign on the front door of the building said April 30th; my guess its a soft opening to make sure everyone knows what the heck they are doing for the May 1st grand opening.

It can be done different ways: Employees/ families only/ invited guest groups, etc... just to make sure everything is working.
Or unlock the doors and see who reads the sign and wanders in; again, just for a shakedown before the Grand Opening.

Please let us know if they are open Tuesday, if so I may try to make it there later that night.

They did have a good stock of .22LR and 9MM. Ammo limits are 10 packs; including up to 2 bulk packs. .223 was getting a little low; and the 1000 round boxes of .223 lasted all of 1 minute.

The store manager looked a bit concerned with the line of 100 people out there; as the sign of the April 30th opening went up 2-3 days ago and all of his staff is new; but they managed well.

Famous last words from the store manager: "We should have plenty of whatever you are looking for". it did sound like they have a good amount of stock in back still for the "official" grand opening in May.

Indeed they did open this morning. They did a good job of organizing the crowd. As noted, they had a fair amount of ammo on hand. I didn't look too close at guns, but they seem to have a good selection. Even had a couple M1As, though they were pretty expensive, IMO. Got some reloading supplies too. Not much for primers but they had some powder and bullets.

It was crazy seeing folks jamming their baskets with ammo. Almost everyone I saw had two bulk packs of .22 and lots of other stuff (mostly pistol, I suppose).

Their official grand opening is May 17th. Probably not going to matter much to us gun nuts now that we know they are open.

Just stopped by, pretty decent place. As mentioned prices are higher than Walmart but less than armslist or gunbroker.

Some notes on pricing and availability:

-Very little .22lr left
-Bulk packs of Blazer 9mm 350/$120, can figure out most ammunition prices based on this
-Lots of AR15 mags including some 20rd pmags

Limit of two bulk packs of ammunition
