Powder Valley group buy

Postby Sprouticus on Fri Jul 18, 2014 10:41 pm

Would any of you guys be interested in doing a very small group buy with me?
I am looking at ordering some powder from Powder Valley.

As you know the Haz Mat and shipping can really be a bit much on a small order.
I wanted a single 8lb jug of IMR 4064 listed at 153.70 but add $43.00 for all the fees, not such a great deal.

But add one more jug and it goes down to $23 per jug, do three jugs it’s down to $16.00 a jug.

They have a few other powders available check it out here.

Let me know soon if you would be interested. I’ll foot the bill upfront if anyone falls through I'll just sell it later on.

Thanks,
Steve

I will go for 1 8lb jug if you can get a 3rd person to jump in.

love to, but they don't have any of the powder that I'd want. "Out of stock" H4895 hodgdon.

I reload for m1 garland and m14. So tend to stick with the designed powder. Nor do I run a gas plug either.

farmerj,

IMR 4064 does really well in my Garand, and from what I have read it is a good powder for an M1a too.

Let me know if you are interested.

I will be placing the order this afternoon.

As far as getting the powder from me, I was going to try to get to the August steel shoot.

Otherwise I usually make it down to the cities once a month or so.

How's it do with a 172-175 gr pills?

Don't know on those, but I use 46gr and 168 gr match bullets and get 1 1/2 inch groups with my H&R.

Does even better with my 1903a3 :D

Good powder for a bolt gun then too? I've got a .243 and .30-06 in a bolt gun. I see it's only listing a single 120 gr pill load for the .280 though I have 8 lbs of H4895 that is more versatile for the .280 though. :hmm:

O.K. I just placed the order.

Doug mentioned they have waved some fees in the past if you order a full case of 6 jugs.

So that is what I did.
As of right now with paying the full price on all shipping and related fees it will come to 162.53 for each 8lb. jug.

When the order comes in I'll contact everyone so we can arrange a time and place to meet up.

Don't worry about sending $ to me you can pay me when you get your powder.

Thanks everyone.

I plan on keeping two jugs now, if any of the other three guys want an additional jug let me know.

So as of right now I have one jug reserved for the following guys.

Thank you for your efforts.

If anyone needs 8 pounds of Red Dot, let me know. My original intent was to use it for fire-forming my 50BMG cases using a corn-meal concoction, but I decided not to try to duplicate another's results (JetDoc).

Update on the powder purchase

I just got the confirmation email from Powder Valley. (With actual shipping costs.)
Sorry Doug, no discount for buying a full case.
(I guess with the current powder shortage they don’t really need to give discounts to attract business like in the past.)

So my first estimate was correct 162.53 per 8Lbs. jug of IMR4064.
Like I said in my last post I am going to keep 2 jugs, if any of the other three fellows wants the extra jug let me know.
If none of the other three guys want it, the extra jug will be up for sale to anyone else who would like it.
