Build Party Oct. 25th @ JAKL

Postby driztan on Sun Sep 14, 2014 6:38 pm

Hey All,

I have 20 - 80% forgings I purchased a while back that are taking up too much room so I have decided to organize one more/last build party. I spoke with JAKL earlier in the week and we are set for Saturday Oct. 25th!

First come, first serve on the remaining lowers. If you are interested and can make the Oct 25th date PM me as soon as possible! Forgings are $80 each with a $50 machine rental per lower. JAKL offers custom detail for the lowers at $15 per. Take a look at the links below for some images from previous parties. JAKL does need some time to program your designs so don't delay getting me images of what you want.

I am looking forward to meeting some more MNGunTalk members and it would be great to some old faces! Thanks everyone! Special thank you to the JAKL crew who make this good time possible!

JAKL is located a few hours SW of the cities in Jasper, MN, feel free to use the thread to reach out to others about car pooling.

Cheap clean rooms minutes away from the shop.

Zero experience with AR platform... Could I build something as good or better than M&P 15 sport for equal or less money (about $580 including shipping and FFL transfer)? No need for forward assist or dust cover...range duty only.

This is just for machining the 80% lower receiver to a functioning lower.

i.e. taking this:

Can you give me some idea of the timing? What time we need to be there, and what time we'll be done?

I understand the difference between 80% and finished, my question was: Can I machine an 80% to completion AND acquire all the rest of the parts needed to have a functioning firearm, as good or better than an M&P-15 Sport quality-wise, for equal or less money than buying an M&P-15 Sport (about $580)?

$80 80%
$50 Machining
$130

M&P-15 $580

$580 M&P Price
-$130 Bare finished lower
$450.

Can I score all needed parts (trigger group, bolt group, finished upper, stock, fore-grip, armorer's wrench, two p-mags, etc.) for under $450?

You forgot to include 8 hours of driving if you live in the metro. So if that's the case - no, you can't beat the S&W.

I have $600 into my custom built AR, I started with a complete DPMS lower too. Match grade barrel, free float hand guard... setup for long range shooting.
