Cabela's Sale / Promotion

Postby westhope on Tue Aug 21, 2007 5:49 pm

Cabela's is running one of their Cabela's Vias promotions again. I also received a flyer in the mail with the promotion card.

The promotion is the usual. $150 off on purchases over $500. Less on smaller purchases. This makes some of thier guns very interesting.

Handguns listed in the flyer:

XD 4" 9 mm or 40 $499.99 less the $150 = $350

M&P 4 " 9 mm or 40 $499.99 less the $150 = $350

XD 4 " 45 ACP $529.99 less $150 = $380

Taurus 1911 45 ACP $549.99 less $150 = $400

Taurus 2 " 357 Mag 5 shot revolver $299.99 - $75 = $225

Ruger MK III 22 LR 4 3/4 " $249.99 less $50 = $200

Many rifles and shotguns listed too.

When is the sale going on and how long will it last? I might have to make a trip to the cities to make use of this if its not also offered online.
I need a progressive press, I'm sure I could order $500 worth of stuff real quick.

Also, Do I need the promo card from the mail? I'm about to check the site

Sorry this is not so. At least not the promo I received from them. Mine is: If you spend $500 or more you receive $150 off your next visit up to the end of 2007. Must make your purchase before Oct. 1, 2007 to get the $150 off next visit. Basically it is like a 30% discount except they also get you to spend the next 30% and make money on that. I don't mind but it is a 3hr trip for me to make it to the store.

I used this type of deal when I bought my winch for my Honda 4 wheeler, I bought the winch and a bottle of pop, the pop got me over to the next $25 credit. Then used the credit to by the mounting hardware, so I got something I had to have to mount the winch for the tax, yes they charged me tax on the credit purchase. I did this at the same time at the counter, but 2 separate transactions.

$150 off your next visit up to the end of 2007

You're right.

This is different than their previous promotions. I didn't read it close enough.

The previous times you just took the $$$ of that day.

Not near as good a deal !!

I'm sure they saw how many guns were being sold at a loss and corrected it.

This is merely a "Grand Opening" deal. They still intend to have their regular fall promotion. Go and spend the $500. Use your Cabela's credit card to get the loyalty points and use them and the $150 gift card this fall during the promotion. Just imagine how cheap the guns will be when you factor it all in.

So, how does this work? Is it if I apply for a Cabellas CC or if I have a Cabellas CC already?

Thanks,

You don't have to have a Cabela's credit card to take advantage of either sale. I just find it better to use a Cabela's Visa because you get a small percentage of what you spend back in "loyalty points" or something like that. I think you get $25 credit when you initially sign up.

When they have their true sale -- the one that this thread started out explaining by mistake -- you have to either get or use the cabelas credit card to access the discounts at time of sale. It's worth doing for the discount. They typically give you $10 or $15 on the card upon it's opening so you can use that on your first purchase too. I landed a new 642 for $304 out the door about a year ago when they ran this deal. Can't beat that. You could actually cancel the card after getting it (and paying it off) so you can re-up for a new card with the extra $15 the next time the sale comes. Not sure how many times they will let me do this before catching it though. Probably plays havoc with your credit rating, if that matters to you.

I just called cabellas in Grand Forks(I'm in fargo right now) and they said I need to have the card to get the promo.

Kind of sucks for me, I was hoping to pick up a press and stuff and get cash back.
