Postby lumbering.buffalo on Sat Aug 02, 2008 7:26 pm

Looked all over and can't figure out how it's done.

Magic?

If you look at the upper right corner for the hour after you post it there will be an edit button.

Hit that button and edit.

Does it go away after a period of time? I went to edit my for sale posting to say it's sold, but wasn't able to do so.

You may have the same problem I do. The icons for edit, reply, post new topic, etc are not visible for some reason on my home computer. If you arrow over the white space in the right corner the little hand will pop up and tell you what icon it is over even though you can't see it. I have been trying to fix mine for a while but just got lazy since I figured out how to work around it. Not sure if this makes sense or not.

Nope, it appears that after a certain number of minutes my edit capability goes bye-bye.

I do believe a recent change by rucker may have cased that ......he may weigh in when he reads this thread. In the interim if you want your for sale topic to read "sold" let me know and I will try to do it for you

You are doing a bang up job as a Moderator there jac455. You should be commended!

Board members- so you understand: The reason the ability to edit your post changed (me thinks) was that I decided to elimidate myself and my posts in protest of having my nose rubbed in the fact that I "broke rule #5" and so the "Moderator" decided to show me a lesson and put that post into mine.

I was so malicious as to register as b.hussein.oblama (using johninminnesota@mydomain to make sure to let those in charge know that IT WAS ME) to have a little fun, make a few laughs and some political points. I DESERVED MORE THAN A SLAP ON THE WRIST WOULDN'T YOU SAY? God, I hate facists, regardless of where they reside. OOPS. I must have broke the hate speech rule.

jac455 - your overzealous moderation of illicit and illegal posts like mine are exactly what this place needs to keep it from becoming too interesting or fun. Keep up the great work!

I do apologize for pushing Rucker into a corner with the edit my posts thing. I didn't want that - If I could have just hit "delete my account" button and been done, I would have done that instead... but I couldn't and decided that removing my posts was my only option. Sorry for that - editing a post like "SOLD" shouldn't be a Moderated requirement, and had I known that might be the outcome of my little tantrum, I wouldn't have done what I did.

Does anyone give a crap if I remove my posts from the board? Who goes back and looks anyway? What have I said that was meaningful enough to make sure it stayed here?

This is a warning regarding the following post made by you: viewtopic.php?f=6&p=43266#p43266 .

Personal Attack

You are right jac455. It was personal. No apology necessary. Okay, let me put it this way instead (oh, I know how badly you want to shut me up right now!) :)

Sorry you feel you are above the rules, I had nothing to do with the decision to change the edit policies, but it would not fit your agenda to slam on people attempting to do what they are asked.

I did not warn you for the duplicate account, I should have, I did warn you for the personal attack.

Rucker asked the mods to enforce the rules, we are doing so, if you don't like it start your own forum. Any further attacks will result in time out.

Your choice.

Do you deny that you broke the rules? Do you deny that the correction for breaking the rules is not in keeping with the rules? Do you deny that this is a personal attack?

Any more attacks and you can have some time off.

You cannot edit your own posts anymore? That is over-the-top and insulting. Heavy handed over-the-top and insulting.

Did I mention it was insulting.

Good grief. That was, in my not-so-personal-attack-do-not-give-me-a-warning- a ridiculously poorly thought out decision.

Mike...change that back. You have no idea how that will po many many good folks.

Insulting.

Was it in the "rules" to learn me a lesson by molesting my JohninMinnesota account? I must have missed that part.

Why thank you but it is jac714, not 455.

Well I don't know which of the mods you are talking about, it was actually the admin who made that decision, to the best of my knowledge the mods had nothing to do with it. I don't see where I your "...nose (was) rubbed into anything, I simply banned the account and gave you credit for your words.

Simple, no duplicate acounts, long standing policy, not mine but one of the rules I was asked to enforce.

JohninMinnesota wrote:jac455 - your overzealous moderation of illicit and illegal posts like mine are exactly what this place needs to keep it from becoming too interesting or fun. Keep up the great work!

This statement is ludricous on its face, your are deriding me for dealing with "... illicit and illegal posts like mine..." which is one of the main functions of a moderator.

Probably a better way to deal with this would be to simply ask Rucker to change the policy rather than throwing a temper tantrum.
