Stirring the pot. It would be great if the PM feature on this forum worked on my Tapatalk App just like EVERY other forum I read with Tapatalk. Just sayin

The forum software is about 12 security patches behind, I wouldn't hold your breath.

TapTalk's PM reply is broken

I'm not holding my breath, but maybe we could have a quick fundraiser to get this done? After all, online community is vital to our position. Calls to action for legislation comes to mind among everything else we all use this forum for.

Money or lack of resources doesn't seem to be the issue, the motivation level of the person who owns the forum to patch & update is. Their forum, their choice, if and when he decided to move forward there are a number of us who would be glad to assist.

In other news, given the significant number of known/serious vulnerabilities in the current forum software that have not been patched just assume that any profile/personal information including your password/user/email address combo is not secure and act accordingly. It's generally not a good idea to use the same password on more than one site but this one in particular is at-risk due to known security holes in older versions of the vBulletin software.

We are just trying to help. Why so averse to help?

Look on the previous page - right above your post - to see the clear, concise explanation.

No one reading this thread has the ability to do the update. My understanding is that those who are reading this thread aren't "averse to help", it is just that they don't need any help sending an email or making a phone call to the one person who does have the necessary server access required to do the work.

That those requests have not yet been acted upon is not their fault, and is something over which they have no control - hence the request to "give it a rest"...

The stupid thing is that nobody will move off this sinking ship... Instead, they ridicule anyone who makes an effort to start up a new one that actually works and is up to date.

Meanwhile, members keep piling up, useful posts added, etc. The best thing to do once it was known the admin wasn't coming back would have been to abandon ship and start over, saving/re-posting as much as possible and letting it remain a resource until it dies.

The version of PHP and SQL that this version of forum software supports is long gone, more server updates will just make matters worse and one day we'll find a forum that we cannot access or get any data from.

Unless this is a privately owned server, it's just a matter of time...
