New marketplace rules and procedures

The advisory board has recommended reconfiguration of the marketplace to eliminate the problems and subsequent complaints as noted below in a recap of the phases we have gone thru. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=44687&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

Phase 1
Numerous complaints by OP’s and buyers about thread pollution in the market place.

Phase 2
Modified rules developed to clean up market place ie:
• Location needed
• Price needed
• Bumping limit
• Off topic not allowed
• Related discussions on merits of product need new thread

Phase 3
Numerous complaints and nitpicking by people not following modified rules established in Phase 2
• People asking related questions to bump posting
• “he bumped after 71 hours” “How come you didn’t catch that”
• People not following rules and expecting a full explanation and arguing
• People not reading the rules or purposely disregarding

Phase 4
Charitable auctions allowed with prior approval

Phase 5
• Phase 4 rule not followed on recent thunderous auctions but allowed by mods due to nature of situation. A point overlooked by most.
• Normal cleanup of marketplace threads in charitable auctions by moving non related discussions/comments to purgatory which resulted in firestorm and mod bashing.

Misc
Dealer defaulting on group buy

So the recommendation is that there be no moderation and that the marketplace be structured in a craigslist fashion. The seller posts and all replies/communication be thru the contact info given in the sale ad. The seller will have the ability to edit their post at any time.

MNGT will no longer be involved in any way unless an illegal item/spam/profanity is listed and will not be concerned with location cost etc.

Rules revision

MNGunTalk Market Place Rules (revised 7-1-13)

Items will be listed only one time, price or trade option and general location (city, county, part of the metro, etc.) must be is recommended included in the original post. A location appearing under the avatar is acceptable.

Seller may not bump an item to the top until after 72 hours of thread inactivity.
Changes such as availability, price, etc. must be made in original post if thread is inactive less than 72 hours.
Valid questions or seller responding to a valid question about the sale is acceptable. is done thru the contact info listed in the ad

Comments in general, negative comments on pricing, btt, ttt, free bump for seller, I'll take it, sweet deal, PM sent, etc. posts are NOT allowed.

When item sells, seller must indicate so in the subject line and is urged to leave original post intact for future reference of others.
When item is indicated as sold, thread will be locked.

Any posts not meeting the letter or spirit of the rules may result in any or all offending posts being edited, locked or deleted with possible disciplinary actions up to and including being banned from MNGunTalk .
These actions may be taken at the sole discretion of the MNGunTalk moderator staff.

In essence there will be no moderation unless it's a spam issue, illegal activity or profanity.

Notes:
Recommendation: sellers who receive a multitude of questions should revise their ads accordingly

Charitable auctions will be reset to hold postings in queue for approval.

I am still working thru the bump process and procedure.......temporarily a seller will have to delete the original and repost........no duplicates
