Hello,

Does anyone have a hand guard removal tool that i can borrow or help me switch out hand guards on my AR.

Use your firm muscular hands.

Or get your wife/gf/neighbor to pull the guards off while you hold the ring down.

Some of the guards on the guns I was looking at today were stuck together. It took a little force to get the halves to come apart even once the ring was clear of the bottom edge. Push sideways (towards the barrel) at the seam while you have the ring retracted. They'll come off.

I just used one of tootsies pipe wrenches.......only works if you are going to replace the guards.......

PM Me and you can stop by the house and change your handguards!

A couple of 1/4" (or 5/16") steel dowels and some surgical tubing from the deopt, and a strip of duct tape and you can make your own. Total cost about $4.

Well, then, you win. Honestly, I have never done it with these components, but can't understand why it wouldn't work. When I needed to get my handguards off, I used a heavy Duty plastic coathanger from walgreens. Worked like a charm until I broke it, then I went out and bought another for 33 cents.

Geez oh pete, just go to Wall/K-mart or Dollar store and get a Jar Wrench, they are $2.95.........

I bet Tootsie has one for adjusting old Jar Heads.

I know what the commercially available ones look like (never had the need), but I'm very interested in the cobble job with tubing and duct tape.
