Wilson mags?

Does anybody have a few Wilson mags they can part with for a week or two (for full-size)?

I'm in the midst of trying to determine which mags to stock up on for my Kimber, and I'd prefer not to drop a ton of cash until I know if they'll run reliably. I've had a few FTFs with Kimber mags, which wiser heads have advised are likely mag related.

Thanks,

I have one if you need to use it, other than that I'm running the Chip McCormicks. Never had an issue with either through my Kimber.

I have a pile of them, I just don't get to the cities much, If you can figure a hand off or something. I also have new ones in stock. Just remembered we will have tables at the River Center Gun show this weekend.

Try the mec-gar's I hear they are better than the Wilson's in every way known to man... and in even a few ways man has not discovered yet. :stirthepot:

I've got 10 rounder Wilson's that run like a charm, my gun doesn't like the chips.

Thanks all, let me see if I'm headed to the show or not.

The failures all happen at about the 5th round in the mag, and look to be a nose-down FTF.

I forgot to number my mags, unfortunately.

It's only happened 3 times, but I'd like it to be zero times.

Have you taken the mags apart for inspection? ETA at one time I did have a mag with some metal flashing on the inside that was messing with the performance. It was an easy fix, never had the issue since.

Which model Kimber do you have? Is the feed ramp polished?

Oh ya, are you giving your mags the tactical tap after you load them to properly seat the bullets? :P

So one other thing to check... I'm not sure how it is with your kimber mags, but some magazines have a specific way the spring is suppose to go in. If you insert it the wrong way the front of the follower is not supported properly and you can get nose dives. Just something to check.

Gun is a Raptor II, ramp looks fine, but it was also suggested that a little elbow grease and jeweler's rouge wouldn't be a bad idea.

The failures are rare enough that I doubt anything's seriously wrong with the mag(s), but I'll pull them apart again.

If I'd remembered to number my mags, I bet I'd have discovered it's the same one for all 3 malfunctions.

My can of elbow grease has the word Dremel written on it. ;)

Personally, I would recommend against doing anything to the feed ramp yourself, but that's me ;)

My kimbers all run fine without having done anything to the ramp

If I find it's consistent regardless of mag, I might go there. But my money is on the mag, based on the type of failure.
