looking to borrow hunting gear

Postby sochr000 on Sun Dec 26, 2010 8:51 pm

I am doing my elk trip in about a week, and realize I am missing some gear I would rather not buy. I am looking to borrow some gear, and am willing to provide some elk meat in exchange(assuming I get an elk). If you have any of the things on my list, and would be willing to let me use it, send me a PM and we can talk specifics. I can come and pick it up sometime towards the end of the week (Thurs-Sat).

The list will probably get changed daily, as I'm drawing a blank right now.

Binoculars - nothing fancy, but with decent magnification and preferably small
Pack - something with a frame, probably an external frame with some exposed frame near the bottom to strap meat to, nothing huge

What do you want for binos? I have some Pentax 8x40's that are decent for hunting, but not exactly Swaro's or Zeiss. They are not tiny, but no good glass is. They are also not really large.

I also have a Kelty Super Tioga external frame pack that is large enough to haul a quarter out if your legs will carry it. It is adjustable and fits me well (6-1, 185 pounds) as is.

It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

I have a purdy light utilitarian backpack ... similar to this (below) ... but blue and probly not quite as fancy ... hardly used, in great condition.
