Looking for some fresh ideas on a wall display for long guns and knives. I recently reinforced a interior wall and wanted to see what kind of ideas you guys, oops and gals, might be able to offer. Thanks!
P.S. I love this website!

Sort of a gun rack in the wall, with doors that slide into the wall pocket-door style so they are hidden when it's open, and they look like part of the wall when it's closed to hide their whereabouts. My thought is to use oak wood lined with felt.

A friend's parents have a setup like that. They have a shelf built into the space under the stairs of a split-level entrance. The shelf looks like it's mounted solidly, but it swings out to reveal a storage area where the long guns were stored. Kick around that idea in your head for a while; it was quite discreet and probably a lot easier than making a pocket door look like part of the wall.
Both my family and the gun-owning grandparents had a "shortened" room in the basement. One of the wood paneled walls was built a few feet from the cinder blocks with wood paneling that swung out.
