I notice that the Glock has a significant space in the bottom of the grip behind the magazine where plenty of dirt and grime could make its way up into the magazine and gun. I see that various solutions are sold...how many of you guys use one of the solutions? Or do you just leave the gap hang open?
I do not believe in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.

I use a "plug" in some of my Glocks...it is only for cosmetics...a look...has no other utility. Makes the gun look a bit more "finished"... no useful purpose in the main.

I leave mine open on my G17 first generation. I did install the Hogue on mine because the first one can get a little slippery, no finger grooves or checkering(If I remember I think I used soap & water). I'm thinking of the G19 or G26 just a little smaller to conceal. I would like to give them both a try.

Leave it open. You're not in dirty enough environments to worry about it. Now that you own a glock, you have to change your mindset about what "grime" is. You could fill that gap with sand each morning and the only problem you'd ever experience would be the rash in your shorts from the inadvertant transfer.

By the way, the gap is filled in other countries with a factory lock. I've never seen one here. There should be a pic of the lock in your manual (at least the key). You could buy a 3.00 plug in the US to fill it but its really not necessary.

One of those plug thingies would not be a bad addition to the gun. It provides a little ramp on the mag well to the rear - may help your reloads a tad.

I've got one of the plugs in my G31, more just to keep lint out of there than anything else.

OneBohemian, The lock is available in the US but there hasn't been much demand for it so no one stocks them. J&S told me they could order one in and have it in two days, with the locking box that comes with it.

You mean, we're NOT supposed to have it pointing at us so the bad guy can see us?
