I can't let this go either......................Understand that men are transformed through training with 1911's from teat sucking, whiny, little boys. I only suggested that you buy one, try it for a week, then give it to me for adoption. How can you take that to mean that it is not a good beginner gun. I guess that I too will be sentenced to a full weekend in a ttousi class. However, for the life of me, I can not figure out what he could talk about, let alone teach in a full weekend class. I would think that it would be more likely an hour or two at most........:P[/quote]

As no one else can leave this alone........

The mechanics of the 1911 are superior to most of the modern replacements. The only point of difficulty is the manual safety, which requires training to REMEMBER to push down to go bang and up for try not to do something stupid.

Joking aside.......

A reasonably well setup 1911 trigger is a simple feel to master. the general configuration fits a large range of hand sizes without modification and can be tweaked for very small hands and large hands alike.
Colt has offered this pistol configured in several calibers, one of which will suit pretty much anyone; other manufacturers also provide the same options so the price can be kept in check.
Possible beginner configurations include .22, 9mm 9x21, 9x23 and 38 Super.

So all you "nay sayers" need to check out the 1911 in something other than full house .45acp.

Same thing I always say -Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with a "4".

But yes, possible beginner configurations include .22, 9mm 9x21, 9x23 and 38 Super, and they can all be fun.... ;)

There are so many inappropriate ways to take this, I don't know where to start.

So, it's been confirmed that the shooter tried to off himself?

Bill's could (staffing permitting) offer a mentor for loners who come in and want to rent. Maybe $5 extra bucks and the employee stands there helping you shoot down range. Of course, you run the risk of scarring an employee for life if a shooter still attempts it. But, hopefully it would discourage the suicidals and encourage loners who actually want to shoot.

If the intent is to stop someone from committing suicide that seems pretty risky for the employee. I don't think someone trying to kill themselves is going to be real careful when he does it.
