And you would be hard put to find a better gun buying experience than at Carry Depot.

Uhhhh..... Excuse me??? BREATH TEST IN AISLE 3, PLEASE!!!

Has ANYBODY, seriously, ANYbody ever seen people at gunshows competing against each other to see who can offer the lowest price for a certain gun??

By all means, GO to the gun show, check the prices, and then call 952-474-4570 (Gunstop) and ask for their price if they have the same thing in stock, PARTICULARLY used. Yes, gun shows have lower used prices than Gander Mountain, but that's about it in 95% of the cases.

If you can get a gun at a reasonably close price from a local shop by all means do so. I base my gun purchases on internet prices because the closest gun shop to me is Gander and it's about 130 mile away.

pokes head up...

http://www.cdnnsports.com

They don't list gun prices on their site, give em a call. I've bought my pistols form them because they had the best price that I could find anywhere for new guns.

Man I thought that I was the only one that was thinking that. Apparently not.

A gun Show is not the place to buy a gun - huh? Did I just say that? Yes I said it.

There is one guy that I would even consider buying an AR From at a gun show - that is Specialty Weapons - they do a pretty good job with DPMS.

Other than that call Gunstop and see what he has.

My last four or five purchases were internet buys and I usually get the best price going to Gunbroker. They also have a list of FFL's in your area. If you contact the seller you can find out if they have a particular FFL on file. And in a very few cases, you can actually get them to drop a couple of bucks or toss in some goodies. Having said all that, I'd go to a local dealer first and give them a chance. I always ask them who pays shipping on warrenty work. You have to on internet buys of course but if you can get the dealer to agree to picking up shipping, get it written into the purchase agreement. I live a long way from the metro area so my local dealers aren't interested in competing for my business. Know your target, Hank.

They do list most of their prices in their catalog which you can download here: http://www.cdnninvestments.com/dowournewcat.html

Strike that - they stopped printing prices - the bastards.

CDN only buys closeouts from other places for the most part it sounds like. If they don't have it in stock they won't order it for you. They didn't have either a Nite-Hawg or the right Bushmaster, they only had 1. I'm waiting to hear back from Gunstop and Buds on the specific models. Bud's is the winner for the time being based on listed prices. Thanks for all the help btw. Without this forum I might have been stuck doing retail for the love of Pete!

I have a pretty good Idea on what stuff should go for and find that Gunstop, Al's and ahlmans have the best prices over all.

I know there is a seductive power of buying a gun online for a few dollars less than from a local dealer, but that can be short sighted. IF we take away all the profit margin from the local dealers we are going to end up with no local dealers. Which means on the night before a big trip you are not going to find any dealers open for that little thing you forgot to mail order a week before.

It means no places where you can go and fondle new guns and ask real time questions or get to see how a new firearm comes apart. For me to order online, it has to be something no one local has.

Despite the fact that CDNN is a closeout operation, the buys can be VERY good if they have what you're looking for. A couple of years ago EAA unloaded some of their old stock, and you could get a new polymer Witness in 45, 38 Super, or 9mm for like $275 NIB. They went REAL fast....

1911 fan, I fully agree with what you're saying but buying from a local isn't an option for some of us.

I have a Nite Hawg #NHX1045N (including a $45 range pass) for $777.00. Dunno if thats the cheapest date in town, but I know I'm damn close.
