Gander Mountain - "Conceal" Class

Postby vertstang on Wed Feb 10, 2010 9:14 pm

Just went to Gander Mountain tonight in Woodbury and they are offering "Conceal" and Carry Classes by Gary. Also back at the gun counter there was a "Conceal" and Carry Class flyer from Shades *******.

Now I can see why people still call it Conceal... I tried to talk to the guy behind the counter about how it isn't conceal, but he could have cared less.

First off, Gander Mountain doesn't "offer" anything besides a room for Gary to use, and a white board to post his class date/time. If you take his class, you would find that it is basically a concealed carry class. He explains all the laws on MN carry, but promotes concealed carry. The guy behind the counter didn't care because it's not his company that called it that.

I agree with that... I think this is more of an issue with the instructor using terminology that some find contradictory with state law, than it is the fault of Gander Mountain.

At least he cared a little.

But really... I don't blame the guy for not caring of showing disinterest. He is there to make his hourly rate selling guns or whatever he sells. There is no reason to expect that he would care about political activism specific to gun issues, or want to debate it with a random customer.

But Gander doesn't offer that for any other instructor, right?

Or so I've heard.

I'm glad they can't do the qualification on site. Some newb's might actually get suckered into paying gander prices for ammo.

You could always use a laser gun. That would save on the cost of ammo.

I seem to remember some sort of master plan they had a few years ago that resulted in them eliminating any relationships with outside instructors and training their employees as instructors. Looks like that didn't work out so well. This sounds like more chaos and bumbling around on their part.
