Energy figures are not real useful in comparing different calibers.

There are so many variables in the equasion with terminal ballistics. Wait till you learn about things larger than man portable systems....... Yikes.

OK, everone put your heads down on your desk, no peeking! A show of hands. Who wants it COM from a .357 mag, now who from a .357 Sig, and lastly from a .45.
I didn't see any hands raised..
Shot placement like a new stores success depends on what?? Location, Location, Location!
Geee, sure am glad that was a .357 mag and not a .45 I just took to the chest.. :D

So does this mean anything different?

OK, everyone put your heads down on your desk, no peeking! A show of hands. Who wants it COM from a .357 mag, now who from a .357 Sig, and lastly from a .45, or a .22 long rifle rimfire?

No way do I want to be shot with a .22 long rifle rimfire, it will kill me just like a .357 magnum, a broad head arrow or knife stab to the chest. I do not think the question above was valid pertaining to stopping power and don't think there is anyone that wants to be ventilated by any object, the OP was questioning stopping power.

So if I know I was going to be shot by a specific caliber and it's results were to be death for me, then I do have a preference. If my wife or kids were involved in this confrontation, I want to be shot with the lesser rated in stopping power so that I may fight on longer with the purpose of terminating the attacker before I expire so that my family survive.

And again Cobb stopping power depends as much or more on placement than caliber and we BOTH know that. Sorry if my post lacked the terminal balistics you wanted or the endly "evidence" available sited. Or should I have said something about the old, which is best, Chevy or Ford argument. Naw, that point would have been missed also I'm afraid.

Well I know that in most cases, but I find it hard to believe a shot to the pelvis with a .22 rimfire is as effective a s a.45 acp. Several stories of shots to the head with a .25 acp and the bullet causing not much more than a head ache, not so true with a .357 magnum. Both taught as a fight stopping shot by several trainers, but is caliber dependent because shot placement is the same.

Now you can keep arguing to convince yourself, that's fine.

Please note I said COM and chest, in the swim suit area I agree 100%. Even a shot gun to the pelvis would/could be iffie.
I think we agree more than disagree.
Take care, be safe, and pray we never have to find out..
