Had a good experience with Keim LLC firearm instruction

Postby ijosef on Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:03 am

I've been looking to get a PTC for awhile now, but my odd work schedule precluded me from attending most classes. When I got the latest BESA member newsletter, I saw an ad from a guy offering a CCW class on Wednesday nights (he also offers Mon, Fri, and Saturday). I emailed him on Monday and was able to enroll for the class coming up in just two days. It was an easy class as long as you have some shooting experience. We shot first at the BESA range then went to his classroom in New Brighton where we went through all the legal aspects and whatnot. I got my certificate that night, so all I have left is to deal with the incorrigible people at Ramsey county. I got a discount because of my BESA membership, so my first time permit was only $60. Other non-members paid $75, which is still very reasonable. I'd recommend this guy - http://www.keimllc.com/

Thank you. I'm not savvy enough to put things in the right place all the time. That's what my girlfriend says all the time *ba-dum-tish!*

The class was in some office building where the guy had his own tiny little office and classroom. It was not at DK Mags - in fact I didn't even know of the place until I just googled it.

BESA is a decent range and the price isn't too bad, especially for the Twin Cities area. I had a chance to go as a guest of a coworker of mine a few times so that helped me make the decision to join. It had some openings and I was able to get in pretty easily. I also like the fact that it lets you use pretty much any type of paper target. The "no human silouette target" rule some ranges have is ridiculous.

Of course, nothing will ever come close to private property. Junk targets galore!
