I have bought firearms at the hill just for the price match. Two years ago I paid $565 for a Sig 239 that they wanted $1099 for. It felt really good to see the look on the guys face when he tried to back out of the price match (+10% at the time) because"that's less than it cost us to buy it" and have three customers who were watching the events unfurl call the manager a lying (insert various derogatory terms here) . I chose the smart ass facetious route and watched in perverted happiness as he discounted the gun 50% and then argued that that wasn't what the big sign over his head said and that it needed to be 60%. God I was an ass that day but got a really nice gun for my trouble and a warm feeling inside for shoving it to them.
BTW, on a recent occasion a friend had them install a set of notes on a m&p for him. It came back with vice teeth marks all over the slide. I told him demand a new gun but being very timid he didn't do this. He finally grew a pair a few days later and they now claim to never having had the gun even though he has a receipt for the services rendered. Moral of the story, duck hill is mordor, stay away lest Ye never come back the same.

I never buy anything firearm related there... I do poke around their clearance clothes, and camping gear occasionally, and you can get some good deals on footwear when they have the BOGO Half off deals.

I have found the help to be just like any other big box retailer, you often know more than they do, and they will make crap up just to get you to shut up.

Don't they sell ammo there for about double what it costs in the real world?

I just go there to buy tight fitting camo pants and tank tops for my wife. They don't sell them anywhere else...

I have found some really good deals on their cloths clearances, you just have to hit it at the right time to get a size that will fit.

The GM Instructor program was modeled after their price matching and customer service program. That is why they are the leader in Permit training in the state.

I was in the Blain store a couple of weeks ago, they had p3ats new for about $330 and in the next case was a used one at $179 with a spare mag, this gun was like new. he also gave me a one year warranty. I think this is the only gun I have ever bought there.

Having worked in retail in the past and in the service business now, I am amazed that GM is still in business given the horrendous service they seem to provide, albeit anecdotally. Clearly they have a problem when when only one person mentions having a positive experience (I'm not counting the "tight fitting cammo pants and tank tops" comment, of course :D ) and so many others have virtual horror stories. This kind of poor customer service starts at the top. If GM corporate cares about customer service, they aren't communicating it to their store managers. Maybe they need an "Undercover Boss" intervention. When in doubt, invoke a "reality show". ;)

thats actualy bogus about the warranty. I work at the one in lakeville and we still give warranties when we price match. But we do have a guy that tries not too when he does it.

It is a shame, GM is local and it would be great if we could shop there. However they are so poorly run and their stock has gotten to be such a joke that any place else is prefered.

Wish the new upper management team that bought the place out would get their heads out of their butts and put GM back on the map. Heck 10 years ago they owned the business and basically have let everyone else take it away form them.

It is like watching Walmart slowly taking Best Buy down these days.

I don't expect you'll have any problems with your new gun, or require any duct tape, but consider it a standing offer to help you out regardless of where it was purchased.

And on the other side of the coin, Sasha gets at least THREE pieces of Pupperoni hand fed to her by Larry everytime we go into the Gunstop!! If I could teach her to talk, I could get pistols for at least $50 below cost!!

Those Gander Mountain stories are incredible!! Vise marks on the slide?? Boy, now that's sum Perfessuchinal gunsmything!!

Q: How can you tell when Gander Mountain files Chapter 11 and goes belly up??

A: Their gun and ammunition prices will drop down to list values as they try and sell everything off before closing the store!!

Regardless, there's a reason I visit your store to buy stuff versus Gander (where I generally just window shop) - much better service - not to mention variety ;)
