When that was used, the guns were cheaper than I could have gotten elsewhere. The $100 to $250 off must be spent at Cabela's, but I just keep those until need to buy another gun.

The $100 off of $500 I have seen many times, but I am feeling very left out of the fold by my boys at Cabela's when I hear that ther is something called a $250 off of $1000. How common are these and what seems to be the factors causing one to get these.

Already have that and have for a couple years but have never seen the $250 one

D & K Mags in New Brighton is a small friendly shop where the coffee is always on and conversation is welcome. I would second the Frontiersman. I have always found them more than willing to help.

The most recent "deal" from Cabela's was up to $75 off with a $500 purchase but firearms were not included in that deal! I was piqued by that.

Regarding the Cabela's Visa card, recently my CC number was stolen (and my TCF debit card # too). Cabela's was great in crediting me back the fraudulent charges. In fact, they called ME asking about some charges. (Some dude stayed at a hotel in Dubai on my dime.) The "bank" they use is a wholly owned sub of Cabela's and when you call them to are talking to someone in the USA who genuinely cares about your problems.

Regarding gunshops, I have found that with most of them, the service depends on if they know you. I also try to know what I am talking about which helps a lot. I don't expect a lot of friendliness, so I am usually not disappointed. I haven't had any issues with Gunstop, and their prices are pretty good.

Less impressive than previous deals for sure, but I did manage to fanagle it into a Burris handgun scope that I will get on Father's day :D

And +1 on dealing with Cabela's CC people. Top notch service there for sure.

I should really learn not to visit gun stores :)

Visited Frontiersman this afternoon -- I've been in the market for a used HK USP Compact in .40 - and of course, there's one in the case in pristine condition. Thought about it for a bit, one of the guys (Tom, I think?) walked me through its condition, and I wound up leaving with it.

I'll echo what others have said - I liked the service I received, noted that the pricing was more than fair, particularly on the selection of used guns. I also knew exactly what I was after while I was in there though :)

I'll be coming back next time I'm after a handgun -

Don't ever get Marv's email address or vice versa. Not that Marv isn't fun to email with, it's just bad for your bank account. If you do, you won't even have to stop in the shop to order a gun. Trust me on this.

And no, I didn't just get done sending Marv an email thanking him for ordering something for me or anything like that...why would you ask? :?

I noticed a number of Kimbers on the wall that I managed to refrain from asking about... barely ;)

From a guy that buys way too many guns...

Gunstop - good for knowledge and prices (Once you get to know Larry and John, they are much better to deal with. If you want a friendly person at Gunstop, then talk to Craig).
Frontiersman - large inventory... you have to know your gun prices as some are good and some not so good. Marv will go out of his way to get you what you are looking for.
Bill's - I go there because of the range and some of the staff members. Every once in a while I will find a good price on a gun, but the prices are usually pretty high.
Thunderjohn - great local FFL. John does not have a shop, but he can typically get you anything you are looking for at a great price.
Streicher's - not a "gun shop" per say, but they do carry some guns (Glock, S&W, etc.) and lots of accessories. Knowledgeable staff, good prices, and they have some good sales.

I'm just glad there aren't more local gun shops and that I'm not on Marv's email list (that could be very dangerous).

Actually Craig was who I dealt with. lol. He did seem like a nice guy. It's just that I never get a call back with an answer to my question.

Ie:
Me: Hi, I have been looking for certain guns for a while and am ready to buy if you can get them and the price is reasonable.
Them: Sure, what are you looking for?
Me: Ok, I'm looking for a _________, and a ____________.
Them: Well, I'm sorry, but we don't have either in stock right now.
Me: That's ok, could you special order them?
Them: I'd have to contact my distributors and give you a call back.
Me: That would be great. Thank you.
Them: Ok, what number can I reach you at?
Me: xxx-xxx-xxxx
Them: Alright, let me speak to them, and call you back.
Me: Thanks again, I appreciate it.

The above has happened several times. They never call back. I started in November 2009. That's the problem. I don't know if it's that their distributors don't have them and don't want to bother calling me back since it wouldn't mean a quick sale. Or, I wonder if there is something else going on, like for some reason they just keep getting side tracked and forget about me. When I call back, nobody remembers me. It feels kind of like that movie Groundhog day in the sense that I start over and over from scratch with the same people like they never have spoken to me ever in their lives, despite me calling multiple times inquiring over and over.

It's just so bizarre. :?:

The guys at Gunstop take a LOT of phone calls each day. They keep the messages, call backs, etc. behind the gun counter along with all the other crap they have there. I, for one, am amazed they can find anything back there. So, if they don't call you back and/or don't seem to remember you, I would say that they are loosing whatever message(s) they take on your initial call.

Most of my experiance with any of these gun shops is based on face to face and not over the phone - maybe that makes a difference?

If you are looking for something specific, try shooting an email to John at Southwest Arms (southwestarms@gmail.com). If it can be found, he can usually find it. In addition, he will typically come back with a fair price. Tell him Brad sent you in his direction.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Wierd, usually they just check the computer to see who has what and what price they can get it for. Only had them say they needed to call back if they were really busy. I would stop in if I were you.
