Weird. I feel the opposite. I would much rather shoot my Glock 35 than my STI Edge in .40. The STI is heavier but I feel as if it has more of a violent snap to it using the same load in both guns. Go figure.

.40 has become my least favorite caliber to shoot over the years.
Yeah, but I shoot with THIS hand.

I haven't seen a difference between 45 cal and 40 cal when I shoot. That being said, I will always prefer the 45 cal since I have never seen any real advantages to using a 40 cal over the 45 cal.

Shooting them both side by side I could never tell the difference either.

I shoot my Glock 27 just fine, I would not want to run 500 rounds through it in a day but for 50 it is very accurate and a sweet little carry gun.

I also have a Para 1640 that has had some mods done to it for USPSA gaming, with handloads tuned for the gun my 20 year old daughter runs it like a champ. In fact when she brought a bunch of college girl friends home for weekend the 1640 was one of their favorites to shoot.

I've only got one .40 and it shoots about the same as the .45's that I have quite a few of. No big recoil or "snappiness" that is apparent to me. Accurate as anything else I shoot in a defensive caliber.

My biggest problem with .40 is that those damned no-shoots jump in front of the bullets.

Though, I remember I had the same problem with 9mm for awhile.

.40 in the Steyr M40-A1 punches as good or better than 9mm in the PPS.
Recoil feels different.
Grip angle of the Steyr might help.

I love my 40s. My M&Ps are no problem at all in 40 because it fits my hands perfectly and very low barrel height from your hand. I shoot mine very accurately.

thanks for all the input gents - lots of good points to think about and look for. i'll keep my eyes peeled for this phenomenon as well as bigfoot and those little green guys that come down from outer space to steal beer nuts (i'm convinced that's why they drop in. beer nuts rule :D )

thanks.

My daughter has a little trouble with the 40, but she doesn't complain about it. She's 11. :P

I like shooting 40, but I have to completely change my grip pressure and multiple shot cadence to accommodate the "snappyness" everyone is talking about. Of course I have to do the same thing when I switch from my 9mm to my 45 as well. (Though the 45 isn't so much "snappy" as "heavy")

Just grip the sucker more and lean into it. :D I guess I feel like I have to "attack" the 40 more than I do my 9mm (even with nato rounds). You can't lean back and powderpuff it like the 9mm. :D

I have a SW9VE and a 40VE, I shoot better with the 9. But that I'm sure is due to the 9 having a lighter trigger than factory.

Some of it has to be from shooter fatigue. The more recoil, the more your muscles have to fight to keep the gun from flipping. The more you shoot like that, the more tired you get and the worse you shoot.
