I've also heard that the FBI adopted the .40 because the 10mm was too much for female agents to handle.

I'll bet it sucks to be a woman in the FBI.

Small-handed agents, yes, many of them women. Had more to do with grip thickness, though.

-Anything smaller then a 45 is for women and children.

-Red Dots are only for old men.

-Women should never be aloud to shoot.

-I had a guy tell me that he should get my brass because he reloads and I am much to young to reload so I don't need my brass. I guess 30 isn't old enough to reload.

-Anybody that shoots an all black gun is just trying to be a hard ass thug. I was shooting my G17.

Guy decided to turn the target upside down because he was grouping low.

Was shooting in Burnesville one day when a guy showed up with his first timer buddy, I just about puked.... there isnt enough time for me to go into detail about all the B.S. this guy had to say, I actually ended my session early cause it was getting so deep! He was shooting a Springfield Loaded Target in 9mm and I complimented him on it because I was shooting its big brother in 45 and would like to add the 9mm to my collection, he said "it would be to dangerous to own both since they use the same magazine and the gun would blow up in your hand when the 45 went in the wrong gun",also told his buddy that his Taurus 38 was "the exact same gun Dirty Harry used". Cool part was that his first timer buddy was super nice guy and one hell of a shot for his little experiance, plus I think he knew his friend was full of crap. He also had a line about John Moses Browning had to sue Colt because they stole his patent on the 1911 before he could make it, he had a theory on the Springfields way arround the copy right agreemant that was humorous also.

I try not to pay too much attention to the idle banter that goes on at the range whilst I am there, however saying that i do recall things like" yes sir that will be $25", "sorry sir you cannot shoot those here we only allow brass" (I had nickle plated brass) and finally It doesnt matter that you paid for a full range rental for a hlaf day and bought all the ammo for the class here, once the casings touch the floor they become our property and therfore you may not clean up your range after you and keep your fired brass"

Things like this have actually made me go shooting inside much less, that and my inttense dislike of getting repeatedly flashed. I mostly shoot at outdoor ranges currently that seem to be frequented by people that know that the business end of a gun is serious **** and treat it with a modicum of respect and really dont care too much about how badass they are.

Seismic Sam wrote:Last year some time at OGC i was shooting my Colt Gold Cup series 70 (with the big, hand filling target grips) and this guy comes over and asks me what I'm shooting. I was a bit baffled seeing as I had a box of what was very clearly 45 ACP ammo open on the bench, and I said: Uhhhh, It's a Colt 45 Automatic?? The guys looks startled, and says "Geez, I shot one of those in the war, and the damn thing kicked like a mule!! Why isn't yours doing that??"

I then told him I had been shooting a 50 caliber Desert Eagle for 10 years and a Smith 500 for 5 years, so the 45 feels about like a 9mm to me, if that much. Sadly, I had neither big 50 with me, so I could have demonstrated what "kicks like a mule" REALLY means. He wandered off, but I don't think he had any real appreciation of my my 45 wasn't kicking like a mule..

Another time at Oakdale, just after I got my Desert Eagle, I was shooting during public hours on the comp range, and touched off a full power (32.5 grains of 296 under a 325 grain JHP) 50AE load, and the concussion was so spectacular that this old range officer came running over because he was convinced my gun had blown up and there was probably pieces of me and gun everywhere. :o He asked me if my gun had blown up, and I just said "Yeah. It blows up like that with every shot!!"

Sam, some time you gotta let me shoot some of that big stuff.
I'll throw in beer/lunch in exchange for ammo.

Never lit off a .500 before.
I think my G19 is in the corner crying.

He wasn't gonna let his woman friend try and shoot his G22 because it was too much gun for her, Before the range session was over she was happily shooting my daughters .45 blackhawk with some very healthy loads. The first loads she was shooting were 6.5 grains of herco behind a 210 SWC. Lots of flash, no recoil, and very accurate. Its all show and hardly any go. The later loads are 310 sledge hammers at 1100 FPS. Its a VERY stout load....The other female's comments was it was the most fun she had without batteries....

This thread should be things you have heard on MNGT……

But the best thing I ever heard was a few years back, was shooting at FLSC when two door knobs came over to the 100 yard range with a pair of brand spankin new DPMS 308’s. From what I gather they were fixin to go “hog huntin”. They had posted some mega large sight in targets, must have been 20”X18” or something close to that, after unleashing what seemed like 40 rds each we went down and checked some targets. I looked over to see what they were pulling. I was surprised to see 3-4 rounds on the entire sheet, the other guy only had 2!! On the return walk I offered to help sight it in for them but they apparently knew what they were doing and declined the offer. When I sat down at the bench I couldn’t help but listen to their conversation (I always crank the volume on my Peltors and can hear even whispers 30 feet away).

Apparently they had no idea that their scopes were even adjustable! They were talking about how they need to get scopes like mine that can be adjusted for “up and down“. I was using my Target scope with the giant knobs, from what I could hear they were completely unaware that their hunting scopes with traditional caps covering the adjustments were in fact adjustable the same as my scope with large knobs, they honestly thought their scopes were fixed and could not be sighted in. They packed up their stuff and were headed back to the store to get scopes that "could be adjusted". At the time I was so blown away it didn’t even cross my mind to ask to see their member ID cards. There is NO WAY those guys were members, I kick my self to this day, I’d love to know what a-hole gave them the gate combo. :x

He stopped talking to Me when I handed him my rifle and a bore light, never did figure out why he got so pissed off?
