As ridiculous as the price is at Gander.....it amazes me that people still pay that price with more and more access to the internet.

I'm sure they are charging what the market will bear.

I own four GLOCK pistols, two are very popular models (G17/G19), and two I probably couldn't give away (G37/G38) [but I like them].

The G17, G37, G38 were purchased online from sellers on ARFCOM, GLOCK Talk and Gun Broker. The G19 was traded for a G17C I also bought on ARFCOM.

All of these pistols were purchased new and the G19 was also new; I didn't pay any more than $450.00 for any of them.

Taking Red Laser (or I guess the Amazon app) to Gander Mountain is always fun.

Their retail prices on new guns are a bit silly. I am pleasantly surprised at the good deals I find in the used sections. Not every trip, and not usually something I'm in the mood to buy or need. I think I've bought 5 used guns from stores since I moved here. 2 from Gander, 2 from GunStop, and 1 from Cabelas. Compared to the others, the Gander deals were far and away the "I'm getting outta here before someone realizes I stole a gun" kind of deals. And sure, lots of their new gun prices are high. Not sure there is rhyme or reason to their pricing strategy, but I don't really care :D

But they do tell me at the Mankato Gander Mountain store that they will price match other retailers like Scheels and Cabelas. Not that they will have any killer deals either, but I was told by one of the managers they would match the coupon deals that Cabelas runs.

I have to agree 100%, in the last 2 1/2 years I have headed out the door looking like one of those goofy speed walkers 3 if not 4 times then got in the truck and burned rubber praying they wouldnt catch there mistake. But on the other hand there has been a ton of trips where I said there was no way I would ever come back, I actually fealt insulted by what the were asking.

Which is all well and good if you know the going realistic prices on enough guns to make it worthwhile. Most shoppers myself included don't have a clue what is a phenomenal deal and what's a standard gander rip off. I don't go there unless I can't find what I need any closer and need it immediately for some reason. I can get better prices and much better service from either ThunderJohn or Gun Stop.

I stopped at Woodbury to check out the used selections the other day since I was in the area (I refuse to buy ammo from Gander on principle)-- while looking at some .22's -- I pulled out the iPhone to check online prices and was then approached by a staffer who exclaimed..."Oh, you're one of THOSE guys". He told me they had the best prices in the area including online because, "don't forget, you have to pay for the transfer fee of $50 too".

I told him that I learned of an FFL in the S. Metro who does them for $10 +tax -- he told me that was "illegal online stuff". I left the store, went home, emailed his name to their customer service department with the summary of my discussion. I also asked if they regularly hired lawyers for staffing the gun counter.

Uh oh. You've done it. You pissed off one of Gander's esteemed and supremely knowledgeable sales associates, and even had the temerity to write to Corporate about the incident.

I pity you--you're a marked man now. Gander has your name from the e-mail, an image of you from the store security video, and your DNA sequence from the hair you shed whilst in the store. Henceforth, you, your family, progeny and pet dog will be banned forever from setting foot in their stores, and you'll never ever be able to take advantage of the wonderful deals on their merchandise.

However will you live with yourself?

That sticker is on my Pelican gun case. Maybe I'll get another sticker and put it on my leg.
